LUNCH SPECIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weekends around 1 pm is when i BLAST text msg everybody telling them "House special squid in ONE HOUR!" We get a large table of people about 10 and eat till we explode for 55 bucks. I have been to a lot of these types of Chinese restaurants and this is one of the best. Parking is a little scarce tho.

My family and I have been eatting at this restaurant for years. They are a spinoff of the Capital Seafood Restaurant off of Westminster and Magnolia. Let me tell you that the food here is the BEST! I moved up to the Bay Area for five years and did not find a chinese restaurant that was better. There is a Viet, Thai, and Chinese fusion that is great! These guys recognize my family as soon as we walk-in. Trust me! The food does not get any better than this. Try to come before 3pm, when they have their lunch special. They even offer this on the weekends, except for holidays! Kung pao chicken, house special beef rib, sweet and sour flounders are just some of our favorites here! Can't go wrong! Enjoy!

I looove Royal Capital Seafood. Their food is consistently great and it's the place my girlfriends and I like to visit to catch up. My top 3 dishes are: 1. House Special Fish Fillet (I don't know how they do it but this is the reason why I'm a loyal patron) 2. Bo Luc Lac (French sytle beef) 3. Vietnamese Hot and Sour soup (so tasty like how mom makes it) If you stop by here definitely try the House Special Fish Fillet. You won't regret it! They make it perfectly caramelized and crusted and you would've have guessed it to be fish! AMAZING!

Their food makes up for their appearance. I always stop by here whenever I'm in the area, which is not very often because im from Sac. Its the typical old, smelly, kind of run down chinese restaurant but their food is sooooo good! Their house calamari and house shrimp never disappoints me. Price is reasonable and you get free dessert too which is an extra bonus.

Really good food... My favorite is the house special shrimp! Bomb.... Service here sucks if you come on a holiday such as Mothers Day etc! Like horrible service... Don't bother.

Overwhelming menu selection. Always good if you are not sure what you are in the mood for. Delicious food paired with fast service. Pretty clean for an authentic Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant. There are even some Thai dishes on the menu. Parking is in a strip mall and can be a little tough during peek dinner times on Fri. & Sat. nights.

I came here with my grandparents and other relatives for dinner on a Saturday night...it's a pretty small restaurant compared to some others in the area but that's probably a good thing since there is no pesky Vietnamese wedding to ruin our plans. It looks pretty old...could use a good scrubbing down & remodel but that is to be expected with most places in Westminster. My grandparents decided to order one of the family meals - for $122.95 it came with: hot & sour thai soup clams with mint & chili salt & pepper whole shrimp pan fried fish (or steamed) house special squid French style beef (bo luc lac) lemongrass chicken house special crab sauteed pea sprouts seafood bird's nest For 12 people, it was more than enough food for us. We even had leftovers and the price per person was great. As for the food, some items were better than others. In my opinion, the best dishes were the house special squid and the French style beef. I am not really a fan of squid but this was delicious last night - it wasn't too tough and it was fried very nicely. The beef was not chewy - it had lots of flavor and was quite tender. My least favorites were the lemongrass chicken (very dry and not much flavor) and seafood bird's nest (it really needed more sauce - too dry for me and the nest was a little salty). The house special crab was also disappointing because even though the flavor was nice, the crab was tiny and there was barely any meat...whatever meat there was, it was dry and overcooked. In the future, I'd like to try lobster or have a house special "something" with the e-mein. They do have lunch specials...but so do most of the Chinese restaurants around here. Overall, my experience was good - enough to make me want to return I'd say.

Typical chinese restaurant: waitstaff speaks short, long lines for dinner (especially on weekends) and definately could be cleaner. But the food is delicious. My favorites are the House Special Scallops and the Fried Noodles. Big portions and good prices. Been here with the family and boyfriend many times and will definately be back many more. Lunch: 9am-3pm Noodle specials: 9am-5pm Open seven days a week from 9 A.M to 11 P.M. Website: royalcapitalseafood.com

Had a sudden crave for chinese lobster so a friend and I came here for their house lobster special. It came with rice & we just chowed that down. Very delicious and reasonably priced. The place needs to be remodeled though.

My friend's family owns this restaurant so I might be a bit biased :). My favorite dish was their house specials shrimp...definitely a must try!!!!

Really good food. We ordered four different dishes; eggplant, asparagus with shrimp, french beef and green-beans; all tasted good.

We order Togo over the phone and their customer service skill need improvement. Most everything we ordered were good except the Vietnamese style sweet and sour soup, it was so fishy that I couldn't eat it. Hopefully better next time :(

Just a little background on this particular review. Being Teochew (Chiu Chow), I have an innate urge to try out Teochew and Teochew owned restaurants. So every month, a group of us young Teochew Americans go out to restaurant trips around Southern California to try restaurants owned by Teochew immigrants. Royal Capital Seafood is, I believe, Teochew-Cambodian owned and is in similar fashion to a Hong Kong style seafood restaurant. When we got there, with about 16 in our party, we were promptly seated, at two table since there were no tables that could fit that many, with the waiters speaking in English. We all then started to converse in Teochew and ordered in our mother tongue. We took a few minutes to decide on dishes while making conversation and ended up deciding on the Kai Lan with Oyster Sauce, Teochew Steamed Fish, Pineapple Baby Rib, Teochew Seafood Soup, Fried Crispy Scallop and Shrimp Mayonnaise with Walnuts. The food ended up very good, and served very quickly. With us playing language games and talking about random subjects, the food was a complemented the nature of our meet up very well. But a couple weird things happened during our meal. First, the "deaf" guy who comes in with stickers came in and went to all the tables, which wasn't that strange. Next though were a few kids singing and playing guitar to each table for donations, which we tried to ignore, until they came to us to show picture. I don't think it's proper to disturb people eating in a restaurant with singing and asking for donations, no matter how good of a cause it is. But nevertheless, after we finished, the staff served us a pretty good desert soup of yam, tapioca, coconut milk and pandan leaf, which i don't know if it was on the house or we ordered, but I would have ordered it if i knew what it was called. Seafood is one of those things, if done right, is amazing. Royal Capital's food was very good in comparison to some of the Seafood Restaurants in the SGV. And the wait staff was very personable and polite to us, which made our time there even better. The only gripe I have is with the parking, which is very hard to find since it is in a small plaza. But would definitely go back. Pros: -Good food -Prompt and polite service -Lots of room -Cheap eats for seafood -Teochew owned and Teochew food (wow i mentioned the word Teochew about 12 times in this review) Cons: -Parking -Odd people coming in to solicit ****

It's best to go to places like to with a brunch of people so you can eat family style and get a lot of items. Most of the menu items are good here and reasonably priced. My favourite here is the crispy fried calamari. Another bonus is that that they stay open pretty late for people who are always running late. =)

House special lobster with noodles is the best thing there. I also love their house special squid, kung pao chicken, and deep fried whole fish. Food is good, but service is slow when they get busy.

4.5 stars. Yet another one of these dumpy Asian restaurant places that have seen better days (see Tan Cang Newport Seafood). But once you have their food, you will instantly forget it. Like they say, don't judge a restaurant by its looks! The House Special Fish Fillet is awesome. It's flash fried and perfectly crispy that you can even eat the fish bones for extra calcium! Comes with two dipping sauces, a soy sauce/cilantro based one and a chili garlic sauce, which are both excellent with the fish. Another great dish is their honey walnut shrimp. Not overly greasy nor swimming in the mayonnaise sauce, just perfect. Sweet, yet not too overpowering. Walnuts are crunchy. We also had their white asparagus and crab meat soup which was great. They also give free tapioca dessert too. Dinner gets super busy here and parking can be a pain because in the same plaza there is a ballroom dance studio. So on weekend evenings, they have a par-tay! that takes up valuable spots. Only thing that I find "interesting" is the friendly man that maybe co-owns the place. I mean he is the nicest fellow around, we ask him for tons of stuff, but see he has this mole. It's not your ordinary mole either. This mole has a hair 3 feet long growing from it. It just bothers me a little when I order and get my food and I wonder why he doesn't shave it like his beard?

5 stars goes out 2 this place!!! ok, the decor is like old school chinese restaurant but who cares wen the food is really awesome!!! we always come here 4 the house special lobster e mein. omg!!! it's bursting with flavor, lobster, and the egg noodles just melt in your mouth! even the leftover is still delicious!!! then we also order the salty fried pork thing and that is 2 die 4!!! it gets 2 b a lil pricey (if u order the lobster e mein) but it sure is worth it! the waiter always tries 2 trick us by bringing out the medium sized lobster wen we ask 4 the smallest lobster. i wonder if they do that 2 all the customers or just us? haha! the last thing is the warm tapioca soup dessert... yum! yum! yum! special thanks 2 my wonderful boyfriend who likes 2 treat me 2 this place once in while. woohoo!!!!!

  • Stephanie S.

Oh my goodness! Now usually Asian restaurants have pretty bad service but this place was beyond horrible. I went up to pay because they took forever bringing out the check, the waiters kept forgetting to bring us boxes, and the food was ok...pretty typical (we had the family style $92 platter). The only thing I enjoyed was the cubed beef with tomatoes and lettuce and my thai blended iced tea! I don't think I'd be coming back here for seconds because of the service =[

  • Yisel F.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! The first time a friend brought me here I was taken back by the funky smell. I, of course, wanted to leave but was told to hang in there and just sit down and try the HOUSE SPECIAL SHRIMP, so I did. This dish is so flippin good that I've driven out of my way plenty of times for a fix :)

Great lunch place to come for cheap chinese/vietnamese food. Everything is pretty good and about $7 a dish. Not horrible or great, just quick and easy. Good size portions and comes with free soup.

  • MissusBugatti J.

This is my favorite restaurant! Haha, yes, some of those dishes are greasy, but worth the extra exercise afterward. Just a few of my fav dishes: house style lobster, shrimp with lobster sauce, house style squid, sauteed peasprouts, peking pork & hot and sour soup (Vietnamese Style). Depending on who you get, the servers are usually pretty kind and courteous, although sometimes, you'll have to ask for things two or three times if they're busy. Go before 5 and order off of their lunch menu for an added bonus.

  • Peter P.

I stopped here last night after not having been here in 5 years. The prices are still cheap and the portions are huge. Two of us stuffed our faces for $40 and we have to take half of it home!! The mongolian beef and the garlic chicken were incredible!! ... especially with the pepper/sesame oil concoction they have at the table... On weekdays, there is always plenty of seating and quick service. On the weekends, there may be huge parties of people and I've even seen wedding receptions here. Regardless of the crowd, the service has always been very quick.

Good food, try their Lobster noodle!

  • Jonathan V.

Everything was kind of average, but the house special squid is pretty good! The restaurant smelled kind of funky and the war wonton soup they give during lunch is eww! I wouldn't come back to eat in, but I would do a take-out for their house special squid. I give the squid like a 4.5 star.

Gotta echo all the other reviewers in saying - LUNCH SPECIAL! LUNCH SPECIAL! The lunch special menu is extensive and CHEAP! You get a good amount of food - free rice, tea, soup and dessert. I don't know of any other place that does that anymore. I've tried - house special chow fun w/ gravy (tasty), calamari fried with spicy salt (tasty). Good portions that filled up me and my bottomless pit bf. Eager to come back and try other house special items on the menu. In terms of looks, this place is super ghetto and in need of renovation. But it's ok - continue with the lunch special and I will be happy.

  • Darcy K.

Quite honestly, this is the best seafood I've had. But I'm not from a coast so perhaps my standards are low. Service here is extremely quick and the prices are great. Try the house special seafood fillet. It's so sweet, in a good way, and melts in your mouth. I've never had fried fish melt in my mouth before!

  • Lady V.

Overall, it's an excellent place for Asian seafood. Just gotta take off one point for cleanliness (It's not too bad if you're used to Asian restaurants.) and because the free soup they gave us had so much starch in it, it wasn't really soup anymore. Halfway to jello is more like it. Their house special sauce is to die for, and you can get it on so many different foods. We ordered house specials of the fried fish and the soft-shell crab. We also had the deep fried tofu, which was lovely. They give two big bowls of some yummy dipping sauce. This place knows how to fry! :) The French-style beef is also pretty good. That was a dish we always used to order at Capital Seafood (The non-royal one.), and it's just as good here. Dessert soup was excellent, better than the other Capital Seafood. On the down side, it's been 2 hours and I still feel bloated. :\

I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a little kid. For wedding banquets, Mother's Day, birthdays, graduation...and whatever special occasion or holiday out there! As many yelpers agree, the seafood is where its at! Who can honestly beat 9.99 a pound lobster here?! My family usually orders the lobster baked with salt and pepper. Its so sinfully friend and not really a diet booster, but its so delicious! I always remember breaking apart the shell, and loving how juicy the meat is. The seasoning is so well done and a tad spicy! The Hot and Sour Fish Soup (Viet) style is also delicious! More on the sour side than the spicy side though. I enjoy the items that's in it instead of the fish since I'm not a fan of fish in soup. The Clam with Mint Chili is to die for. Its normally a hit or miss for me with clams, but never here! I'm always chomping on these lil guys and putting my head down when there's no more. The clam doesn't have a very seafood taste to it. Instead, there's a slight refreshing taste to it with a hint of spice. The steamed fish my parents get here is good. But like I said, I'm not a fan of just steamed or boiled fish of any form...unless its the sichuan style fish casserole!! But nope. Never going to like that one due to personal preferences. To this day, my mother still orders the large beef noodles chow fun whenever she doesn't feel like cooking or knows she's only cooking for my grandma. The chow fun remains a staple of my childhood. The beef is tender and soft. The Chinese Broccoli makes me yearn for more and more! AND IM NOT A FAN OF THOSE! The sauce for the noodles are perfect. Its perfectly fried and well done that I'm willing to throw away my diet just for this! Add a bit of hot sauce and boy oh boy...I am soaring into the sky! As anyone can tell, you will not be disappointed at this restaurant when it comes to food. Do not expect great service here. IT IS A CHINESE RESTAURANT. The restrooms are not the cleanest and I'm usually really wary about using it. Mainly only to wash my hands and such. I typically come here with my parents and sometimes just for to go orders only. If you do not know an asian language mentioned here or do not speak much of it (I speak Japanese, NOT Chinese, Cambodian, or Vietnamese), then either order to go or bring your token fluent Asian friend here for dine in. :) Bon Appetit!

Never come here on a holiday if you are super starving already. You might just pass out. Super super busy!! Tasty food but the establishment needs to assure that customers are eating food prepared with clean hands. The kitchen just didn't look tidy.. 3 stars for that. And I'm paying for my food, we deserve a smile from our waiter. It would just change the day.

I'm not too familiar with what to order at some asian seafood restaurants, so i'd recommend their house specials.Their house special fish and their bean dessert (complimentary) they give you at the end is so good. I would definitely go back. It's a great place to go with a big group or family. Service is pretty good too.

Went here last weekend and can't believe I didn't review before. Not the first time I've been and it's about as good as I remember. Food tastes pretty good, avg prices if you have a big enough group, and ample parking. We had: salt and pepper pork and fish, fried rice, walnut prawns, garlic chicken, mongolian beef, and beef chow fun. Enjoy how they give complimentary soup and tapioca dessert.

I've been going here since i can remember and every time i go i get a major mouthgasm! I love the house special lobster where they have tasty noodles right under the lobster mmmm... It's going to clog your arteries and give you high blood pressure, but who cares if its so gosh darn GOOD. The only thing i can possibly hate about this restaurant is the unbelievable strong smell of their house special sauce in their lobster that stains my clothes. It smells good i must say,but that SHIT IS POTENT! so hit this place up PLEASE

not to be confused with all the other "Capitals" that can be found in OC, SGV, Rowland Heights... i.e. Capitol in OC, the New Capital(s) and the Captial in SGV, and New Capital in Rowland. All serve up similar fare, but i think Royal Capital is the best of the bunch. Royal Capital is family style chinese food, vietnamese influenced because well.. it's in Garden Grove.... It tastes similar to nearby "Capitol" Seafood --can't find it on yelp, however, Capitol is a little more vietnamese tasting --- less saucy, less cornstarch, less oil than Royal Capital also, i think Royal Capital cost a buck or two extra per plate. there are 2 dishes at Royal Capital that really stand out: the squid in the XO sauce the tom yum soup also anything they call "house special" on the menu if you aren't ordering those dishes, everything else tastes pretty good but are about the same as you can find at Capitol, Furiwa, Grand Garden, Seafood Paradise #2, etc.

Great place for lunch or even dinner. A cambodian/chinese seafood restaurant with so many awesome dishes to die for. So many items to choose from. Good service with reasonable prices. Lunch specials are great! One of the best around.

  • Samantha T.

only reason i come to this place is the HOUSE SPECIAL FISH FILET! i always order to go. never really like to dine in, especially the fact that i don't want to smell like food afterwards. the price for the amount is decent. they do have a lot of different varieties of food on the menu, though i haven't tried it.

    (3)
  • Philip P.

The lunch special is arguably the best. For 5.99 for most non-seafood and 6.49 for seafood and some others, the pricing is unbelievable. Sure, it might not be the healthiest thing in the world, but it sure is delicious and filling. Kung pao beef and kung pao chicken are amazing (5.99 each) and the cube beef is another favorite of mine every once in awhile (6.49).

    (5)
  • Kim D.

Yayerrrrrr! Can we say the best lunch special menu? Man, the house special filet, shrimp, squid, so on and so on is the BESTTTTT! Plus, 3 plates during lunch and bill is only $20!

    (5)
  • Steven N.

I grew up eating at this restaurant back in the day. Lunch special prices are the time to go! Of course, it used to be a lot cheaper, but it's still decent price. Food is still good and for some strange reason today, the service was great! 4 out of 5 stars because prices are decent. Be glad, I didn't give it 3 since service bumped it up another notch.

    (4)
  • Maggie H.

for price, it should get 4 stars but otherwise it deserves 3 stars on quality & taste. the lobster is currently ridiculously inexpensive right now (get the house special). the clams in garlic & mint are pretty tasty, and for the non-seafooders (how do u live?!) get the mongolian beef. i feel lethargic after eating here btw, make time for a nap...

walnut shrimp. the bomb. mongolian beef was a bit too salty though. overall can't complain

  • Josh M.

I love this dirty little whole in the wall. I learned in San Fran's Chinatown, ignore the boogers on the wall, ignore the giant mole-hair on your server, if you're lucky enought to have one stop by the table even once after you place the order, and ENJOY THE FOOD. This place has the best shrimp, clams, fish or lobster anywhere. You have to order it HOUSE SPECIAL style. I strongly suggest you try the lobster here as you will never get better at some Market Broiler or American style seafood house. You will never settle for lobster with butter again. The ultimate dipping sauce is a small tray of limes, salt & pepper. This will become your regular dip at home too. It's cheap, easy and tastes soooo good. If you have never had a Thai Iced Tea, get one, swirl it around until it becomes a rust color, enjoy, then order two more! The menu is massive and some items are pretty interesting. As stated, the place is kind of dirty and the service sucks. Parking is rough too because everyone in Little Saigon eats here. Pretend you're on vacation when you go, ignore the mess, enjoy the food. Hope you like it.

  • Mel T.

I absolutely LOVE this place! I've been here twice so far and both times the food has been phenomenal! I was a bit weary about eating here when I seen the place. The area isn't that great and the inside is...? Hmmm. Not sure what word to describe it but aside from that I love it! We ordered the house special lobster which is only 8.99/lb and it is awesome!!!! But I think my favorite is the house special fish. I'm not too big on eating fish. I'll eat it but prefer lobster or crab. But after trying theirs, OMG it's great! Their prices are VERY reasonable too. Some of the other dishes we ordered were the won tons, chicken chow mein and many others that i can't remember because all I can think about is the fish! And it doesn't even taste like fish normally does. It's deep fried with a nice golden batter on it and crunchy with flavorful sauce. I'm so looking forward to going next week for valentine's day!

  • OliveFoo D.

I've been going here with my family for a while, and we usually get those family meal deals. My translation skills aren't the best, but my favorite dish here would have to be the oystered clam one with rice. Yummers.

  • Billy K.

I remember going here when I was a kid but last time I went with friends on my birthday. It was a horrible experience. The service is REALLY BAD and sometimes it's to the point where the food will be over looked and you won't even come back anymore. They ignored us a lot of the times and seemed like they didn't want to serve us. I will not come back.

    (1)
  • Danny L.

The food is pretty good, but the fish stomach soup with crab meat we ordered had bits of shell in it. Not good. When my mom complained to the server he did the typical restaurant thing of implying that she was at fault. The other dishes were pretty good though.

    (3)
  • K B.

This place offers great lunch specials that includes a lot of seafood. Not a fancy restaurant, but if you want to get good food at a great value, this is it. Definitely recommended to go as a group since there are so many dishes to choose from.

  • David S.

Just like every other half -assed Chinese restaurant in the area. It's mixed with Vietnamese style. The food are ok but too oily and too much MSG.

    (3)
  • Cyndy L.

Good old-fashioned Chinese food under bright lights. The lobster with ginger and scallions was tasty, and definitely fresh (they showed us the crustacean before it became our dinner). I also liked the string bean dish, which was less greasy than most of its ilk. But the Peking duck was not good -- dry and flavorless. Order a beer to wash it all down. Service surprisingly good for a Chinese restaurant. Only thing that bothered me was a woman who seemed to be rushing us, but she only stopped by once.

We just walked out of the restaurant. This has been our all time lunch special favorite place, but they increased the price and under new management. AND had never told us that bc today is a holiday lunch special does not apply! When we began coming here back in 2005, when the lunch special was around $5 per plate. Mole man have worked here since, I LOVE this place with a passion. My main plate to get were: mint clams, salt and pepper shrimp, house squid or fish, Kung pao chicken, .... yepppp $5-5.50 each. Now they raised it to $7.38. We were kinda ok with the price, BUT they didn't even honor it today nor told us when we walked it. Poorly managed. Unhappy camper.

Food fit for a King. Big portions for cheap prices + you get free hot tea and rice with everything. Also they give you little soup appetizer and dessert. What more could you ask for?! Try the house special shrimp/beef/anything. Its breaded and fried with some sauce that is so good you'll wanna get some togo. Also try the Bo luc lac ( cubed beef with onions). Those of you who eat at these seafood places know what im talkin about. I only go here for lunch because the prices are cheaper and they give you good portions. Good place to go for a quick/casual hangout and they cater too.

My sister had picked this restaurant to celebrate since it was in the centralized location for everyone in my family. The decor and interior is outdated. My fiance complained that the carpeting was sticky and not clean. When we got our bowls, there was old dried rice in one of them. The plates on the table had sauce stains that I had to wipe off on the bottom. In terms of cleanliness, this place gets 2 star. Parking is ok. Not great. Shared plaza parking and they have side parking next to the restaurant. Food was okay. Shrimp wasn't as fresh or succulent as Sam Woo's Irvine. I enjoyed their snow peas and seafood chow fan. I didn't like their duck. The bao that came with the duck was not useful to wrap the meat and looked like they tried to make it shaped like wontons? Place is good if you don't mind the MSG. I had a slight headache afterwards so I'm not sure if I would return here.

This place is terrible! I suggest you guys to NEVER order a lobster that is larger than 4lbs because they will cheat on you. I usually order around 4lbs but the other day my dads friend wanted a 7lbs. The 7lbs dish looks exactly like the 4lbs dish. The head of the lobster looks smaller than the one we saw before they brought it into the kitchen too. We complained to the manager and she make up all kind of BS reasons. My entire family come here many times for dinner each year. I'm so pissed and disappointed. Never gonna come back again!

FAMILY SEAFOOD MEAL They have all sorts of prix fixe meals for dinner or lunch. All of them are hard to replicate anywhere else. For the $37 meal we had the following as our dinner: Hot and Sour Fish Soup Vietnamese Style ... this time not hot enough to thoroughly cook the catfish Clam with tamarind and mint sauce ... I think they forgot to add the tamarind ... we showed up an hour before closing. Pepper Salt With Shrimp ... plentiful and great value. Complimentary dessert We've been coming to this restaurant for years. It's always better to have more people in your group in order to take better advantage of their prix fixe meals. Always our favorite are their "house special" lobster or scallops. An incredible place for Chinese, Cambodian and Vietnamese cuisine.

Ordered the house special lobster with butter & Family dinner $31.95 (catfish soup, mussles, fried shrimp). Total cost of $67 with tax included. Great customer service! Got water refils without needing to ask and new plates to eat on as well. Food was brought out fairly fast. The table of 4 was spacious and the utensils were clean. Lobster was great got a 2.75lbs one at $9.99/lb. Very good. When I have money to blow ill come back

As with any Chinese restaurants around this area, you really don't come here for the amazing service, relaxing environment, or gourmet food. They are all family style restaurants meant to accommodate large parties and celebrations. So, don't come here with high expectations of any of the above or you'll be disappointed. I rarely come to these types of restaurants unless they are for family gatherings or weddings. However, lunch hour at this restaurant is an exception! The price is great for the food that you get. Some of my favorites during lunch time are the: -House special mussels (fried heaven!) & Bo Luc Lac They're all a little under 10$ and if you dine in you get their appetizer soup as well as desert soup. Pretty good deal I'd say!

We happened to see this Chinese Restaurant by chance. We were in Santa Ana to see a beautician my wife has known since the days we lived in Anaheim. After we had our hair done (by Kim at Sogo Hair Salon) my wife said she was hungry. Across (kitty-corner) from Sogo's I saw a seafood restaurant sign so I suggested we go try it out and avoid running around looking- she agreed. we over. The entrance is unremarkable. Once inside you will see two dining areas. One to your right and one straight ahead from the entrance. We were seated. All tables are covered with white linen. Menus were handed to us. It is very extensive. It offers a few hundred dishes. The pricing is not bad. After a few minutes we decided to try their Sizzling Seafood Platter and the Mongolian beef. No more than a coupe of minutes, a server brought a pot of green tea, a glass of H2O and a covered container that had steaming white rice. We were impressed of how fast that came. About 5 Minutes later our Entree' choices came. First, the Mongolian beef, which, as you can see from the photo I posted, looks generous, delicious, hot and we were not disappointed. Two or three minutes later they brought the Sizzling Seafood Platter out, and like Fajitas, it was sizzling. The rest is history. P.S. I do make note that the decible level (when the empty tables are being bused) is as if you've entered a place having a noise contest. They bang, cling-cling and bam. And don't forget to tip nicely after all, like many Americans, they came here to srike it rich on Gold Mountain, he he he!

Quickly prepared, thoroughly cooked. Enjoyed every bite of the generous entrees (beef w/ chinese broccoli + sautéed fish w/ veggies) and rice we ordered. Complimentary tea and dessert was also very appreciated. Despite its relatively dingy appearance, with friendly service to top it off, I can't think of a reason not to give it at least 4/5! This affordable Viet / Chinese eatery is much recommended.

Id almost forgotten a out this place. When my father first moved out to the area and i would visit from college breaks. He took me and a friend here for a plethora of seafood. Cut to present day, we pull into the parking lot and the memories flood back. The largeish parking lot connected to strip mall, the weird glass awning they basically stapled to the side to make the dining room bigger. Cut to present day and there are 30 of us across a bunch of large tables on a whim to have food. Adults and kids are mixed heavily. And i have no idea how anyone is going to agree what to have. The only thi agreed was that this was close to where we were, they had huge tables and pakring and driving wasnt going to be crazy. However with the old memories kicking in i remembered how to. Build a feast. House special lonster, salt and pepper shrimp, basil clams, ong choy with garlic, cai lan with oyster sauce, fried tofu, crispy duck and a shit ton of fried rice for the kids. Like the competing places in the area, they bring the lobsters out for you to see. Plates started double stacking there was so much food. But we crushed it. It held up to what i remembered. Service was surprisingly pleasant as most of these joints are indifferent. So i guess it was a good day

Dirty and disgusting. This place served me a veggie dish with a cook fly in it! So gross. Don't come here and avoid at all cost.

We often eat-in here and order to-go. The place itself has a typical Chinese/Asian atmosphere, and is not the most upscale looking inside. But, they have a menu with a wide selection range, and their live lobster is cheaper per pound than other restaurants in the area. For the more inexpensive price, there is a noticeable taste difference, however, it is still good. Friday night, we tried the French style beef for the first time, and it had great flavor. The catfish soup was soooooooooooo yummy. It had just enough kick to it without being overpowerful.

Compared to all chinese seafood restaurants I've been to in my life, this is on par. Meaning don't expect "service", don't expect clean rigor, but like hole in the wall bars, expect the down and dirty and come here for low cost seafood variety. The problem is most chinese seafood restaurants have stepped it up slightly in cleanliness and service. Living in the 626, I don't see a reason to commute 72 miles round trip ever to this place. Newport is better but has a longer wait time and New Bay I hear is also a good spot. If you do end up here, house special lobster, house special chicken, and the ong choy are what I recommend.

This place is like any other chinese with a bit of vietnamese food influence. They give you a complimentary bowl of soup which is quite bland. The food is okay but the crab and the chow fun were nice surprises. If you come here, I would recommend coming during lunch as they have $7.95 specials for almost 100 different entrees. Definitely a great deal if you come with a big group. Overall, decent food but nothing special.

5 stars for the house special lobster with e-mein alone. So so so bomb. Just as good as everyone else says. Full of flavor. Fresh lobster and plenty of meat. Noodles are just soft enough and totally soaked up the juices and seasonings of the lobster. Not TOO expensive either, at $13/lb. House special shrimp was second favorite of the night, though on the saltier side. Problem easily solved with a bowl of rice though! We also ordered the tofu hot pot and French style beef, but both were very meh, especially compared to the lobster and shrimp! Would definitely return for the lobster, and damn I wish I could just get plate after plate of those noodles!

I have been coming here since I was a teenager! The shrimp fried rice and house special lobster are delicious! We were a little bummed that they ran out of crab but the lobster was incredible so that made up for it! Service was great!

Hey so order as much seafood here. I think it's delicious!!! Dang it, it was considered improper to use the phone at the dinner table, so unluckily for this yelper, I couldn't get any pictures...or the names. But the price was very reasonable and food came out amazing. Will definitely be back!

I would give this place negative star if I could. SO RIDICULOUSLY RUDE! They only smile with the customers who order lobsters (it means they'll make more money). The long haired lady at the front gave me the stare down like I have a disease. And the cashier guy /manager talked to me as if I was begging for his food. For the love of heaven, if my friend wasn't so hungry, I'll throw the food at their faces. I waited for 30min for my appetizer. NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE! There're plenty of decent Chinese restaurants in the area.

My friend and I came here for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. The menu has a large selection of food choices. It took us about 15 minutes to decide. I ordered the garlic chicken and my friend ordered the steamed whole fish. Both dishes were tasty and filling. The ambiance is reminiscent of a traditional Chinese restaurant and the staff super courteous. They even let you pay with a credit card. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. It was like taking a two-hour trip to the Far East, minus the jet lag. If you love Asian food, this is the place to be.

Want to see your victim before you eat it? You will here! We ordered the lobster with the noodle, some greens, clams, and beef dish (Our friend ordered). We were served soup and dessert on top of all the food. Everything was good. Love the way they marinated the lobster. You should even suck on the shell. Really good!

If I could give them no stars I would! Normally when I dined at the restaurant the workers are rude so I started ordering to go. Today was the worst, I ordered for to go, went to pick up my food and they got one of the dishes wrong. They were trying to force me to buy it, but I said I wasn't going to pay for what I didn't order. They were being really rude about it. The guy who took my order was being a bitch about it the whole time, he was complaining about how I should have been more clear and I told him how much more clear can I be if I'm already reading the name of the dish from your damn menu! Plus I've ordered the dish many times before and whoever took my order over the phone always got it right. A lady(maybe the owner) comes out and kept apologizing to me while the guy( the one who took my order) who works for her was still being an ass! They have very rude ass workers!! By the end of it, we were all clear on the dish I wanted. Waited fifteen minutes while they were finishing the order. Paid and left, got home opened all the boxes and found out that just to piss me off even more they gave me the wrong dish on purpose! Never going to this place ever again! Horrible ass service!

The food here is okay. I have had better chinese food. The restaurant can use some deep cleaning. I have been here a few time, but I don't plan on going back. The last time I went here I was pretty grossed out by how dirty the restaurant was. The food really didn't stand out to me.

Love this place. The shrimp or lobster special on chow mein noodle is absolutely to DIE FOR. My hubbie loves the fried tofu, I know, sounds gross, but it is yuuumy with spicy dip! The lunch specials are a steal since they come with white rice, tea, soup and dessert (dinner time they charge for rice & tea). Only 4 stars because, like other reviewers said, parking stinks & they clear up your table when they notice you slowing down. So the trick is to never lay down your chopsticks :) ha ha. Like this place better than Seafood Cove , much better. Happy dining! Maybe we'll see ya there. Going soon to celebrate mom's bday! :)

You know I can't really say because I've only been here once for a birthday. There was this one dish that still gets my mouth lingering. I don't recall what it was called, but it was some kind of seafood dish. I want to say calamari with some kind of stir fry sweet sauce. It was so delicious. Other than that the food was so-so. The group that I went with ordered a dinner special so I had no say in what can be ordered. Lame!! but I at least got to experience it.

For the money, this is a place to bring the whole family. We had twelve people and spent almost $130 and had food left over. BUT, you will come out smelling like food. Damn, had to bleached my clothes and took a long shower to get rid of that smell. That is a small price to pay for good food and light on the wallet.

Just had dinner here after a several year absence, and it was just as good as I remember it.... a good place to load up when you're really hungry.... would prefer a little more cleaniness, but what can I expect for good Chinese food at an affordable price.... I do think it feels a tad cleaner than the Capital a few blocks away.

So here I am adding two more stars. Why? Well we went here for my dad's birthday and my Caucasian boyfriend came along. I know that the food was good if my boyfriend who has never had Chinese seafood is not shy about how much he is eating in front of my entire family including my uncle and cousin and he's eating as if there is no tomorrow and telling me how amazing this food is. Yeah this time was much better. The house lobster with the noodles was delicious as always. The seafood hot pot was yummy also my boyfriend just loved it. The calamari was delicious...and so was the tiny sprout things. Hmm what else did we get? I forget, but the whole point being...we were smart enough to skip out on the clams this time and what a smart choice. The meal just seemed so much better overall without the stench and frustration of the stinky clams. I guess to top it off, we didn't have the crapshoot tables this time so this experience was way better..amen because it was my boyfriend's first time and I wanted it to be a positive experience. So if every time I come here from now on, if we a) don't have the crapshoot tables b) don't order the stinky dead clams c) get the attention we got for my dad's birthday...I could start liking this place again.

Uh oh! I just found my favorite restaurant. The owners and staff are mostly Chaozhou (like me), but they speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. They have some great dishes: House Special Shrimp Lobster with garlic butter sauce Kungpao Chicken And some other dishes I only know in Chinese... Everything is good, especially the seafood, lol. Definitely stop by if you are in the area. You won't be disappointed. There is usually a short wait during the dinner rush, but its well worth it.

It's fine - probably one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. Get the house lobster with noodle. If you're willing to drive, there are way better Chinese seafood restaurants in the San Gabriel valley.

Dude, I've always thought this place was a shithole because -- face it -- it looks pretty dumpy. I've driven by dozens of times and always wonder how it stays in business. Well, a couple of friends and I swung by for a quick lunch on Sunday and it was pretty popping. I was really surprised. We ordered 3 dishes from the lunch special: fish filet (I think with sweet & sour sauce), scallops with asparagus, and fried tofu. The fish filet seemed to be more batter than fish, but was tasty nonetheless. I love scallops. You can't really mess them up in my book. :) These scallops were a little on the salty side on their own, but tasted fine with rice. The fried tofu was also yummy. Our bill came out to be just over $20 for the 3 of us. Woot! Plus free soup, tea, rice, and dessert. Double woot! :) All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised.

The food here is delicious. The kung pao chicken is one of the best I've had. the service could be a little better though. And the restaurant itself could be a little cleaner. The service is quick and food always comes out fast and hot. How come American restaurants can't have service this quick?

Stick to the seafood. I've been coming here off and on since I was in high school, so here's what you can expect: - horrible parking - questionable cleaning practices - inattentive staff However, there's an upside: - good lobster - good seafood What you should get: - house lobster and/or crab - hot and sour prawn or seafood soup - salt and pepper shrimp - deep fried flounder (everything else is either questionable, so-so, or hit and miss, and trust me, I have tried almost everything on the menu).

Food is quickly prepared, place is busy and understaffed. You get the feeling that they don't want any requests from you, place and run. Too busy to refill your glass of water when I asked for more they dropped off the pitcher of water. Food tasted ok.

tip: the combo family dinners are a great deal, just add some a la carte's like the lobster noodle or the french style beef and it's all good. with 3 restaurants nearby doing the exact samething, this place really holds it down in regards to taste. had the stir fry clams, salt and pepper shrimp, sour fish soup, french style beef cubes, and tong cai. all dishes were good and consistent, nothing was too salty which parents approve. yellow bean dessert was very good. surrounding a bit run down but it's okay.

My family and I love going here to eat dinner. The family style dishes are perfectly prepared and always come out in a timely manner. You can't go wrong with the house specials. Their pre-fixed menu selections are great for small groups and large groups. The staff is great! No complaints here.

I've only been here once, so this review is ONLY for House Lobster chow mein =). Lobster season $10.99 per pound. WOOTWOOT. FIRST OF ALL, if you go on a Saturday, call your restaurants before you come. :) Asian people love having their weddings at Chinese-style lobster-restaurants. I guess we decided to go lobster-restaurant hunting on a good Saturday because the first two restaurants we tried had weddings. Royal Capital had a wedding too but luckily it was smaller so they still served regular costumers while they served the wedding also. For two people, we asked for a lobster that was 2-3 pounds. Our lobster was around 2.5-2.75 pounds. We asked for it cooked house style with chow mein. This is the first time I've had chow mein with my lobster and I don't know if other restaurants do it this way but they sell the chow mein for $6 a lump. Apparently you can buy however many lumps you want but we were told that 1 lump was good enough for two people and it was plenty! I thought the lump thing was pretty nifty/silly. We only ordered a plate of lobster chow mein and it was huge. It fed the two of us very generously with chow mein noodles left over. The lobster was cooked well and was very good and the chow mein noodles were absolutely DELICIOUS! I do love ma carbs and within the first five minutes I had already downed a whole plate of chow mein. I could taste that the lobster and noodles were cooked and drenched in butter......but this was the same exact thing that made it so heart-attackingly delicious. The noodles were soft and still a bit chewy at the same time. Overall the texture of the noodles were PERFECT. Our total came out to be $41 before tip for a 1 entree meal of lobster chow mein which is not bad! Service was quick. These Asian places usually lack the warmth and affectionate service that other places may carry but service here wasn't too bad. No one was rude, we were served very quickly and fed quickly even with a full house in the restaurant. Overall I would totally go back! I think I'll order all of my lobster dishes with chow mein from now on because the addition of the noodles made everything a lot better and more filling also. 4/5 stars because lobster was good, not the best and very buttery/greasy, and mainly because I feel like if it were to exceed $15 a pound, I would not think it will be worth it to get it here!

  • Anh L.

The lunch specials here are awesome 5-8 dollars per dish and you will leave full and satisfied. Like seriously, just stop by for the lunch specials, you will be satisfied and you will love me. KID YOU NOT!

When I was younger I remember my parents ordering from capital seafood and we would always order in advanced and pick up with great service. Today I went there for a graduation lunch and the food is still as good as I can remember. The calamari is a must have! I definitely recommend this place for great seafood

Great mix of different types of Asian delicacies. Salt and Pepper Pork chops never Fails along with the other 100s items available! (Cant lose ordering anything listed as a "House Special") The Lunch specials are very affordable and still served ala carte. Also great for big crowds. One of the few OC spot with a Khmer/Vietnamese/chines fusion. Give it a shot!

My Mom has been holding out on me. She's been coming here for the longest time & this is the first time she has taken me here. She's been keeping a secret. "The food here is good" Here's the rundown: Westlake soup: we always order this soup and to me, the soup here was just okay. Special House Pork Chop: some how we got this dish first, before the soup (which was a little weird, soup is usually first in Asian restaurant). The pork chop was deep fried, then mixed with a sweet sauce. Simply delicious. I could have eaten the whole plate, it was so good. Definitely a must order. Pepper Salt Whole Shrimp: this dish came with lime and a salt & pepper on the side. I tried it plain first and the shrimp was very good. With the lime and salt & pepper mixture it was better. Clam w/ Mint Chili: Delicious. I have never had clams with mint before and it will not be the last time. Very tasty. I didn't notice the chili, that would be my only complaint House Special Crab (Soft Shell Crabs): we had the option of getting a regular crab, but the waiter said it was an additional $10. I said no to that, because we liked the soft shell crab anyways. Another winner. The soft shell crabs were fried with a sweet & spicy sauce. Very Delicious. (not a lot though) Chinese Broccoli: we needed a vegetable dish and this is always a good go to vegi dish. Steamed While Fish: for a steamed, it was dry. A bit of a disappointment. How do you get dry steamed fish. Had to be sitting around for a while to do that. Not good. French Style Beef Steak: yummy yummy yummy. Their version is very good & tasty. The beef itself was so tender. A must order. Chow Mein w/ Gravy Sauce: The menu didn't specify what meat came with this dish, but it came with pork and shrimp. This dish passed my son's test (he ate it, lol). This dish was very good. The dinner was rounded out with a plate of sliced oranges. They ran out of their usual dessert, bummer. The price was very reasonable. Parking was plentiful. There was an armed security guard outside (by the door), hmmm I'll let you speculate on why on your own. Service was just okay. Food came out fast and in a very rapid random order, not the way the banquet menu was structured. We had a great meal. My mom finally let me in on her secret place she bring everyone and now that includes me. I'll definitely be back.

They bring out tea and white rice right when you sit, so I figured it was complimentary....but when you get the bill, you get charged extra for that. I ordered the lobster with noodles- it was a lot for one person lol. My friend didn't care for it too much. Our waitress was mad that we didn't think we should pay for the rice, but she agreed to take it off and spoke in another language...probably cursing at us lol. So food is pretty good, but service kinda sucks.

Only gave it a 4star due to the place being dirty. Try not to sit by the wall as you can see dust on the big wall art piece. House special anything is always good. Especially the shrimp!

I came here based on some of the pictures i seen of their house special lobster. Im not a big fan of lobster but i had serious cravings for crab. Figured if their lobster was a hit why shouldnt their crab be right?! My boyfriend and i arrived around 2:58pm. We weren't even greeted. A bunch of the restaurant staff just looked at each other. Few minutes later an older man came and sat us down in the back. My boyfriend went to the restroom to wash his hands first and i barely sat. The man who seated us said "can you hurry up and order because lunch is almost over" I havent even opened the damn menu. I gazed over the lunch menu breifly and didnt see anything interesting. I couldnt believe how rude he was and to assume we would have ordered from the lunch menu. I suppose he thought we were young and broke. I ended ordering the House Special Crab. Which was okay in my opinion. They can definitely had more ingredients. I also order the walnut shrimp since the reviews were great on yelp. Texture was good..nice ans crispy but the flavor was straight mayo!! I work in the restaurnt industry and i know what is authentic and not. We asked the server for some condensed milk and we mixed and tossed the shrimp ourself. After that.... Perfection! I assumed they also thought we were dumb and young and wouldnt notice the difference. I then decided to order some salt and pepper spareribs and that was delicious!! Once the server seen that we werent so cheap.. His attitude changed towards us and he was trying to be nice. But im all about first impression and i wouldnt recommend this place unless you're absolutely desperate and cant get anywhere else.

I actually enjoy the food here very much despite the look and uncleanliness of the restaurant. The caramelized fish was definitely on point. I've gotten a few types of soups here and they're all lacking in toppings. I'd say it's more brothy with less toppings like seafood/vegetables and such. Still good though especially with rice. The coconut walnut shrimp was alright. I felt like it could have been drenched in sauce more.. It was on the dry side. The calamari is definitely one of my favorites. I always get it when I come here. Kung pao chicken is also pretty good. Overall everything is usually delicious and easy to share.

    (4)
  • Raymond O.

This food is your traditional share a ton of food with family and friends. The food was good to a certain extent. But some of the flavour is missing because of they way they cook. They try to bring everything out so fast that I guess they don't always have the me to taste the food. Either way its another typical family styled food joint with a lazy Susan table top set up.

  • Calvary D.

Can't beat Chinese lunch special here. Best value! Fried tofu and fried fish with two sauces kick ass. I like anything house special. Chicken, beef ribs, and shrimp is good. Don't forget the butter fry squid.

  • Thu V.

So I've been here twice and in terms of food quality, it was a complete hit or miss. My first time here, the food was bland, uninteresting, unmemorable, and overall dissatisfying. I came back this past weekend and had a very satisfying dinner. So yes, this place is really a hit and miss because although I had a really good dinner this past weekend there, they don't really deserve 4 stars due to their inconsistencies. The salted fish fried rice, which in theory didn't sound very appetizing, was surprisingly delicious! Who would've thought such a simple dish would be the hit of the night? The Thai soup was good, and so were the squid and and ong choy with salted bean curd. The lobsters were also cooked pretty well but if I just wanted lobsters alone, I'd probably opt for Tan Cang. Overall, the whole meal came together deliciously. Would I go back? Definitely. But remember, Royal Capital, if you fail me again, we're going to have to go separate ways because fail me once, your fault; fail me twice, still your fault but I won't give you a third chance at failing me again. Service was fine. Nothing exceptional and nothing to complain over.

    (3)
  • Steph A.

The staff here is so rude. They have no idea what the meaning of service is and they don't care. Every time i asked a question they were just RUDE. RUDE RUDE RUDE. I hated this placed had a horrible experience. The food was ok. The sea food soup was nasty. The food did make me sick though almost instantly after I ate.

  • Pillin L.

Royal Capital is easily one of my favorite family Chinese restaurants. Sure it may not be the cleaniest. Sure some of the workers don't speak Englsh. And sure sometimes service can be horrible. But my family and I have been coming here for years, and with that, a love has grown. Good prices, big portions. Without all the fawncy shmancy. My only recommendation is to come here for lunch. Their prices are so much better and I feel like the portions are just as big. Royal Capital is your typical family style Chinese restaurant where the menu is broken down by protein. You pick the style and they make it for you. Personal favorites are the house special fish, whole fried fish with diipping sauce, Thai minced mint chicken and of course, house special crab! You can't really go wrong. So much to choose from that this place is only fun if you come with a big group. That way, you can have a little of everything!

  • Dara K.

Clams in the Vietnamese's Hot & Sour Seafood Combination Soup? Um yes!! 4 pretty big clams along with shrimp, squid, and fish just for $16! Tried the Salt & Pepper Squid which was fried, it was good but felt it had just a bit too much batter :( Overall, food was good... prices seems expensive but the portions make up for it. My only complaint were the waiters with attitudes. Usually no matter how good the food I wouldn't come back if the service was poor.

  • Yonnie Z.

My family loves coming to this restaurant -- it's pretty much their go-to Chinese restaurant in Orange County. If I counted how many times we've been here, it's definitely at least 30+ (altho this is my first time writing this review, it's long overdue)! The food is tasty, flavorful, service is reliable, and if you want authentic Chinese cuisine -- this is the place. If you're looking for a place with a fancy atmosphere and interior, then this probably isn't the best bet. I'm not a super fan of the decorations in the restaurant, but just try to overlook that. :) Royal Capital is more about the FOOD, quick & prompt service, and you won't leave hungry - that's for sure. :) This past Saturday, we ordered the following dishes: 1) Sauteed Pea sprouts - mini pea sprouts sauteed with garlic and salt, it was a good veggie dish! :) 2) Crispy duck - duck prepared with a crispy skin and covered in cilantro (it doesn't taste like the roast duck kind) 3) House special fish fillet - pieces of fish fillet was succulent, flavorful, buttered up, and we all enjoyed it. anything "house special" is good at this restaurant, although keep in mind that it's probably because they use butter, haha :) 4) Eggplant with garlic sauce & pork - if you love eggplant, this dish is great! it's sauteed (in a lot of oil) with shredded pork and garlic and green onion. tastes great, probably because I love eggplant. :) 5) Clams with basil & garlic - i love clams and this dish was fabulous! the sauce was prepared just right and I probably could have devoured 2 dishes of this. the clams w/ black bean sauce is also good, but this one probably tastes better in my opinion. :) anything with basil is fabulous. 6) Sweet & Sour soup w/ pork strips - texture was thick and rich in bamboo strips, thin pork strips, black "wood ears", etc. They provide you with complimentary dessert -- we got the mango pudding w/ milk (condensed milk?)! AWESOME. :) The other dessert option is sweet tapioca soup; it's pretty good as well. **** In the past visits, we've also ordered: 7) House Special Lobster w/ Noodles - my parents always order this dish (at least 75% of the time we've been here, this entree was ordered). the lobster is fresh, prices are reasonable by the pound, and they pick meaty ones for us! we get the noodle w/ the lobster entree, because it's delicious - chewy and filling too. the flavor for this lobster dish is great -- it beats the typical "steamed lobster" version. 8) House Special Squid (it's tossed with scallions, garlic & butter) - the squid here is soft yet chewy and just delightful. if you like squid, you should get this dish. I think the Kung Pao version is also good as well. 9) French Beef - cubes of succulent beef steak, grilled to perfection - there's some salt/pepper/lime dipping sauce that you can mix together for the beef, but there's so much flavor in there already - you don't really need the dipping sauce :) I'm sure we'll be back again! :)

This place is a hit or miss for me. The food is what you would expect from any chinese restaurant, nothing extraordinary but not terrible. Prices are fair, service is what you would expect at this type of restaurant. Unless you can go really early, avoid this place at all costs during major holidays. We went here for mother's day and they forgot about 2 plates, we were desert dry thirsty before we got water refill, and you are guaranteed a few bumps from behind your chair from other patrons. Seats are placed very close together, so if you are claustrophobic, this is not the place for you.

Wow what happened to this place? I can remember when I went as a kid things were so much better (or it could be that my palate wasn't fully developed when I was younger and everything tasted decent). Anyway, my party and I came here on a Sunday afternoon - place was packed but we were able to get seated promptly. First thing I noticed was the distinct smell of bug spray near my table. And there was a lingering smell of urine as well. Ugh. One thing that stands out about this restaurant are the prices are decent - its like they haven't changed them since they opened. We ordered the House Fried Fish, House Clams, Fried Squid and Broccoli Beef. The Hot and Sour soup was okay... had a heavy soy base but had a lot of veggies - mushrooms/bamboo. The Fried Fish dish is actually pretty yummy. IT comes with this creamy crispy batter and two very different but complementary to the dish sauces - sweet and sour fish sauce and a darker soy-based sauce. Fish was yummy but I was looking forward to the other dishes we ordered as well. So we waited... and waited... We waited nearly 25 minutes for our second dish to arrive - I'm not even kidding - the clams. See picture attached. Half the clams didn't even contain meat. Disappointing. Flavorless - well except for the faint taste of what seemed like chlorinated water. Then we waited another 20 or so minutes for the Fried Squid and by the time the Beef Broccoli came out - nearly a whole freakin hour after we ordered - the entire table was already full. This place has gone downhill. Yes, I understand I came on a Sunday, but if you do not have the means or capabilities in place to efficiently feed your diners within a reasonable time period, don't let in so many people. There wasn't any weddings or anything going on that would have occupied kitchen staff. It just didn't make sense to me why four dishes were served literally 20 minutes apart from each other. Food was decent - but I didn't even try much of the Beef Broccoli when it came out because I was already full when it finally came out. Wait staff could be happier. They looked like they hated being there. Every single one of them. And one waiter reached for the cash tip we left on the table... while we were all still seated!!! I made a comment that only in Asian establishments will the wait staff grab the tip before the diners leave.

Good food and assortment but the staff is REALLY rude. Don't expect good service. They rarely come by to check on you. I had to practically hunt the waitresses down whenever I needed something. The lady serving us would even give us attitude after we asked her for extra napkins or 'to go boxes. During our dinner, she would avoid our table but once the bill was brought to the table, she would not leave our sight. Money is definitely all they want. Once we paid for our food they pretty much just wanted us out of that restaurant. We weren't rude customers and we even went to the extent of complimenting their food. These people just don't have any manners OR they hate their lives so much that it's too difficult to hide their anger. If you don't mind bad service, then you'll be fine dining in. Avoid special occasions if you're trying to keep the mood positive. I did the mistake of taking my father on father's day.

It's a shame that this place calls itself Chinese food. The food is expensive and taste like ssssshit. The crab soup has some very bad crab in it and it taste like the chief just poured a ton of sugar in there. I would never go back to this place, complete ripoff.

I came here about less than a year ago but never had the time to write a review for this place and I kind of forgot to :3 So this review might be a bit outdated? Anyway so I came here last year June 2013 after my high school graduation. My family and I actually wanted to go eat Thai food and it was so crowded ! And drove to other Thai restaurants and they were all crowded.. So my parents were like, let's go home and just cook a big meal! So okay what a bummer... We drove home and I was like why won't we go to this restaurant right here? It's near our house! HAHAH So turns out the food is REALLLLY GOOOD! But do not get the meal plans.. Idk what they call it. But I guess it's like a package with however many items and then it's a few hundred for each package. Don't get it bc the items they have there aren't good! We ordered many different dishes including hot pot, lobster, fish, chicken, and duck. HAHAHAH It turned out reallllly goooooooood! I love the lobster the most! :) Definitely would come back heheheh

We used to be regulars. We would suffer the noise and the horrendous parking situation for the great food, good selection of live seafood and reasonable price. That was a few years ago. Now, only the good selection of live seafood remains. The quality of cooking is way below what it was. And the price has gone upmarket of course. Oh yes, parking has improved. The crowd is still there but I think most come because of the reputation or the fun in selecting live seafood. Many of us locals have moved to other better restaurants. However, time to time there will be friends and visitors asking to go here royal capital because they have heard raves from someone else. For those who have never been, they find it interesting. For us who have known it at it's best ... It is said that if the ingredients are fresh, you can't go wrong with a dish. Not true with royal capital seafood. A number of times we've had overcooked fish. What a waste of live fish! Overcooked prawns-tough as rubber! Crabs that are not sweet and succulent as it should be since they were live. Many times stir fried greens came over-salted.

Right when I walked in, the smell of this place was..let's just say not pleasant! It smelled like paint and piss all mixed together ! There weren't many people here since we got here around 11:45am. Got seated right away and looked at the menu. Another group came after us and the waiter took their order before us and they even got their food!!! We flagged down the waiter and he said he forgot about us -__-. Service was horrible but the food makes up for it i guess. We ordered the House Special Clams and House Special Squid. House Special Clams: These were pretty decent. I loved the garlic sauce that it is drenched in! I scooped that and spread it on my rice! House Special Squid: ORGASM in your mouth! Omgoooodness this was absolutely amazing!! This is fried in oil and has butter...no wonder why it was so good! i felt guilty eating it because I've been eating healthy! o well...cheat day for me:) They give you lots of rice and dessert at the end, which is a mung bean dessert! Total for 2 people plus left over for lunch the next day was $15! Score! NOTE: -Come during lunch from 11-3....all lunch specials is $6.99 AND they give BIG portions! -Service is quite poor

This place is the bomb! Whenever my family is craving chinese food we always order take out from here. We havent experience any bad customer service or any problems with the food. However my brother mentioned their quality went down. I beg to differ. But then again my tastebuds are really cheap. I just love food from here. Last time we ordered we got a free plate of white rice. #win

I'm not a fan of Chinese food/Vietnamese food but my friends are so I've been here quite a few times, for some reason their lunch tastes a lot better than their dinners (and this has happened quite a few times) no idea why. but the food is still pretty good either way and you get your bang for the buck, portions are pretty nice and prices are fair, never had to wait to get seated and service is pretty damn good for an Asian restaurant!

Okay, so they have cheap, greasy house special lobster. Tasty enough. Squid in a similar fried treatment, also good and greasy. Shrimp in yet another similar fried treatment, pretty tasty. The beef was also pretty good. But this place isn't winning any awards any time for service, decor, or cleanliness. Come for the food, nothing else.

I love this place with a passion. House Special Squid is a must. Butter lovers, I know for a fact that the cooks here deep fry the batter and squid in butter because the flavor is intense. Not only is the house sauce great with overwhelming flavors but the butter is what finishes it off! Not recommended for people who are watching their figures... During my last visit, ordered the house special squid and the crab with noodles which was around $20 (priced by the pound) plus an extra $6 to add the noodles. Rice comes complimentary with the meal. Noticed that the most popular dish during dinners times is the House Special Lobster with noodles which is also priced by the pound. There's a lot of room inside the restaurant, however it can get packed especially during lunch and dinner hours on the weekends. Noticed a lot of families come here and the entrees are family style. Service can be slow at times so gotta keep asking the servers for water refills. As I mentioned in my previous review, go for the lunch special entrees (9am to 3pm, I believe unless it changed).

First time eating dim sum in months! I ate with my family and it was perfect! Yummy shu mai, what I call "crispy footballs" because I don't take the time to figure out what they are actually called, and shrimp balls. My aunt ordered some shrimp tempura sushi that I've never had before but it was delicious! The only thing to complain is that the chairs are awkwardly low or the table is awkwardly high to the point where it feels like the table is up to your shoulders. My poor grandparents who are now so tiny seemed pretty uncomfortable.

Other than the 80's deccor and the nasty stinch... the food is phenomenal... eating there makes you feel like your in an 80's chinese movie.. service is superb, amazing variety of selection of dishes... great lunch specials as well...

The food here was once outstanding. Now its just on and off. I still go here on special occasions though such as bdays, but we pretty much get to go. Personally though I think it is better if you eat there rather than to go. The service is pretty good and you might catch a hot female once in a while here. Might!!

3.5 stars Whenever my parents are in the Westminster area, we always meet here for lunch or dinner. When dining in, you normally get a complimentary bowl of hot n sour soup in the beginning and a bowl of their yellow bean dessert. What we usually order here: House special lobster - at 9.99/ lb and delicious seasonings, you can't beat this deal. I prefer it with the lo mien noodles. Bo loc lac - tender cubed beef with fresh tomato and salt/pepper/lemon nom nom nom Empty heart vegetables - crunchy, simple, garlicky greens. A good balance to a meat-heavy meal. The prices here are very reasonable and portions are generous.

This place is great for family gatherings for cheap and good Chinese seafood. I wouldn't recommend it for those with an ill stomach because it isn't the cleanest restaurant (but then again, if it's a clean Chinese restaurant, the food probably isn't that good). Pros - Cheap lobster deals with yee mein - Fried Fish filet with soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce is a great dish - Salt and peppered deep friend prawns and the fish friend rice are a definite must - Large tables that can fit 12+ people (with the lazy susan) - Free complimentary appetizer soup and dessert soup Cons - It's pretty dirty. Be sure to re-wipe your plates and utensils. My cousin stepped on a couple of cockroaches while eating here - Mediocre service. The waiters are pretty much here to serve your food and to get out of the way - Bathrooms are not very clean - Limited napkins (they keep them in the back near the bathrooms if the waiters don't bring them to you)

Place is absolute garbage when it comes to service. The wait time was double what they told us it would be. Couldn't even get served water within a reasonable time. Waitress looks like she hates her job. Food was okay at best.

Oh my goodies! want some good noodles? you have to come here and try their chow fun! the flavors are subtle, which differentiates it from chow mein oh and the noodles are fatter. Fatter noodles= chewy noodles :D ONE MORE THING about the subtle flavors is that you can eat them with an entree without the flavors beating your mouth. I ate the noodles with kung pao chicken and then the next bite with orange chicken. I really enjoyed the kung pao too. The chicken is fried and then tossed in the sauce. If you're really craving lobster, the front of the restaurant displays a few tanks crammed with lobsters and cod fish. Everyone ordered lobster here, so it must be good... it looked good... I longingly eyed the lobster on the table next to us...but I was too full to order it :( I'll be back for you, little guy! HIGHLY recommend!

Food is just ok, not worth for me to come back again. The service is bad. The waitress seems annoyed whenever we asked for something. She is very proud of her sliding-n-almost-throwing- dishes skill that she showed right off at the beginning. Our table has one baby n the babysitter needed to carry him around the table. Our table was at the corner n doesn't bother anybody but she seems irritated and told them to sit down. Another waitress brought the dishes out and she didn't put it on the turnaround table, instead put it next to my aunt. What a very polite attitude! I don't see any reason for me to come back here. The shaken Mongolian beef was raw n not fresh. The fried squid tastes bland, I could only taste the batter.

Food is pretty good but the service is just terrible! The "waiter" that was serving acted as if we were there for free hand out. I have no idea how the guy still has a job, he must have been related to the owner or something. Anyways, this restaurant probably has the worst service I've ever experienced in any industry. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because of the bus boy, he's the only one who paid any attention to our table (and the tables around us). Word of advice to the owner you really need to get rid of your waiter, maybe then you might have returning customer. As for me I'll probably never come back. - This review was based on the night of 2-14-2014 roughly 8-9 PM

Great family style restaurant. I always get the Vietnamese soup, fried whole fish, house special lobster is a must, french style beef (Bo luc lac), and orange or kung pao chicken. The honey walnut shrimp, and salt pepper squid is pretty good too. Friendly service and good quality food, and very fast service. Free dessert soup is pretty good. We come here on occasion when we are in the OC

Fairly cheap and good. We got the duck, French style beef, and the house shrimp. The house shrimp was tasty, but it has a very buttery sauce, and it is battered and fried, so I couldn't eat too much of it. The French style beef has a very meaty flavor, which Koreans describe as a meaty smell. Most Koreans don't like it. It helps if you dip it in lemon pepper, which comes with it. The duck was crispy. It had very little meat, though, and some of it was so tough it wouldn't come off the bone. A minor note, but some of the steamed buns were colored funny, as well, as if they were over cooked. Overall it's not the type of Chinese that is friendly for old school Korean taste buds.

DIM SUM! YUMMY! Get the fried sushi rolls. It's WTF goodness in your mouth. Fried sushi roll? What? But ohhhhh so good. The shrimp and rice noodle dish was also very appetizing. My favorite part of the dim sum was that it kept flowing. The servers kept coming with more food.

My first favorite seafood family restaurant to go to for any gatherings. Lunch special has great value and dinner is great if you know what to order. I highly recommend the house special shrimp e mein. Although th I s dish is 22$ it's like a combination of 2 dishes. Also must order their sour soup with shrimp and viet style so no nasty beansprouts.

Been here several times with family. Never going here again after today's service. Worst service I ever had here. Waiters kept coming and taking our plates and constantly staring at us while we ate. Took our plates and food when we weren't even done eating. Decided to tip them a fair amount for the crappy service, and they kept complaining and asking for more tip. They took advantage of my mentally ill mother who has schizophrenia and forced her to tipped them double while I went outside. I had no clue until I left the place. (We however did tipped them over 20%.)

I came here on a Tuesday night at 8 PM after my niece's graduation. We had a reservation (couple days in advance), and they didn't have the table ready for us when we got there so we had to wait. The waiters were arguing with each other while setting up the tables (awkward~). When we got seated, we ordered lobsters, crabs, mussels, a few veggies dishes and hot & sour soup. We waited over 50 minutes to get our food; food didn't come out until 9 PM. We asked them several times when the food is ready and they kept saying almost done. Also, we never got our ordered for the hot & sour soup by the time we finished all the other dishes so we canceled it because there's no point. The waitress gave us deserts, which she later knocked it over and spilled on the table, and didn't say a thing or gave us another one. Overall, this was the worse experience being at any restaurant in my entire life. Avoid at all cost!!!

I have never been to a restaurant where food taste so bland. Even mom n' pop chinese/viet togo places tastes better than this. You call this a restaurant? I order dugeness crab along with other dishes and oh boy, the worst ever. I was told it was fresh but when the dish came out, the crab meat was dry and almost no meat in it for 30 bucks. I was furious and ask that if it was fresh and they lied. The crab was probably dead for a while or freezed. They never answered back and slowly ignored the whole problem. I eat alot of fresh crab in my life and I know what it taste like and the meat should be juicy not dried up fried. The dishes I ordered were not very good either. No taste whatsoever. More out of like a quick fast food chain who made the food so quick out the door that never taste or even check it. Never again I am going to this place and recommmend first timers from out of town, tourist to STAY AWAY. On 1st and newhope st , there is another restaurant 10x better than this $h!t hole where customer service is excellent and food actually taste like fine dining and flavorful. You'll thank me later.

I live in san gabriel..a place where there's some of the best chinese food but yet I still make the 50 minute commute to royal capital to get my chinese food fill. I love that you get soup to start off with a dessert to end, and they don't charge you extra for a big pot of rice. My favorites are the whole fried fish, house special chicken, and house special squid...can't go wrong with any of these.

Food: We ordered a myriad of items. Most of the items were average, a little too greasy for my taste. Also every dish had a sweet after taste. Service: Average for a Chinese food restaurant, the waiter staff was less than pleasant. They also seemed troubled when I inquired about some of the items. Environment: Needs an upgrade. The tables are falling apart and the chairs are dirty. Misc: They lack the extra's I have come to expect from Chinese restaurants, including a proper chilli sauce. The chopsticks, tea cups, and water cups were all dirty.

If you love Seafood this is no doubt the best place to go. I tried many other seafood restaurants like this in the area but this place has to be the best. I been here a number of times and the food is always fresh, hot, and very tasty, but the servers can be very rude. This is the perfect place to go for family style meals. Everything is served in big portions so it's probably best to order a few dishes and share. I had the lobster, honey walnut shrimp, fried rice, orange chicken, beef and broccoli, and many other dishes, but the best has to be the house special fish filet. Don't get me wrong everything I eaten here is good but the fish filet is excellent. It's very crispy, cooked right and very tasty. The price is reasonable for the food you are getting. The service on the other hand not so good. A lot of times the workers seem to hate their job. I see them bumping into each other all pissed off like they want to start a fight or something. If you want to order something else on the menu or get refills you will probably have to put your hand up in the air and flag them down because chances are, they won't be coming to you asking if everything is all right. Overall, probably one of the best seafood I had. I'm willing to sacrifice bad service for good food, but only for this place since it's soo good. If you want to avoid the service you can also order to-go and you won't have to deal with the service. The service at these type of places doesn't surprised me too much because 99% of the time when you eat at an asian restaurant your going to get bad service no matter what. Trust me I'm asian and I been to many asian style restaurants. They focus more on the food than service. A lot of the times the workers are paid a low fix wage so they don't care to provide good service. Keep that in mind.

Came here for a wedding last night and the thought of yet another banquet style in a run down Asian restaurant did not wow me. I was pleasantly surprised to see this was a pretty nice venue. Elegant. Spacious. Modern. The standout dishes for the night were: lobster, walnut shrimp, and the cold appetizer dish. Parking is available in the back lot. If you are searching for wedding venus that serve asian banquet style meal, this should be on your list of places to consider.

5 stars for food. 0 stars for service. Food here is delicious. Loved everything that we tried. Service however is the worst. Wanted to order a certain dish and was told to order something else because it takes to long to make and they were busy. Umm what?! Sat a group of 5 people at a table four and just stuck a chair at the table. Chair was blocking the walk way so every time someone walked by, which was every couple of minutes, the person sitting there had to get up and move. Asked for water from a waitress and she responded yea yea yea and didn't even look at us. Probably would do take out next time so we can still eat the good food without the horrible rude service.

My family always makes reservations here during times of celebration... after graduation lunch.. lunar new year.. etc. They are very accommodating to our large group, always 20+ with people trickling in as we eat. Our usual orders, each of which I love and recommend: - House Special Lobster, served with heaping mounds of tasty garlicky noodles - Fried Tofu, served with a zesty soy cilantro sauce, and a sweet & sour sauce - Clams in basil sauce, a favorite with the kids of my family! Just the sauce drizzled over rice will keep them happy - Salt & Pepper Shrimp, whole shrimp w/ heads battered & fried, then dusted with a white pepper and salt seasoning mixed with sliced chiles (dishes like these are the best, dipped in lime juice, salt & pepper) ---- we'll usually do this, or the calamari version, which is equally as good but doesn't have the outer shell of shrimp, which some of our guests are sensitive to) - Stir-fried Greens, usually a small thin sprout, in a light oil and garlic mixture Sometimes I feel as though their lobster dish has a lot of shells that are missing the lobster meat inside... it's a concern, obviously, so we may try to take the family somewhere else next time, just to see how that goes. Other then that, love the memories I've made here, chowing down on some tasty Chinese & Vietnamese dishes with my family.

Rate: 4.5 stars I can say my family and I are picky eaters. We always come back every time when we are in town. My family and I loveee this place. By far the best Chinese restaurant and compared to other places service is pretty good. The servers are nice and they are always watching out for us. Order any house special. I personally like their squid and scallop house specials. Sometimes we order form their family menu. For the amount of seafood I think its cheap. Try it for yourself.

3.5 stars A chinese seafood restaurant frequented by tables after tables of Asian families. I was expecting a more run down place from the reviews, but it was not that bad. Just caters to a different crowd who comes for large plates of family style food! There is a slight smell from the "frying oil". Even my T-shirt smelled like the oil a few hours after I left the place. We came on a Friday night and got the House Special Lobster with noodles and a plate of sauteed "rau muon". The rau muon was tops, a perfect balance of leaves and stems - and the stems were cooked instead of crunchy. The lobster...yummy! coated with flour, then flash fried and then they sauteed with garlic, peppers, green onions and "house/asian flavoring". It was $9.99 a pound for 3.25 lbs. They do bring the lobster to the table to show it to you before they cook it.

My family came here to Celebrate Chinese New Year and my Mom's birthday rolled into one! Happy year of the Dragon! For my family of 4, we ordered a traditional wedding style banquet dinner for 10 people (10 courses)! Yeah, that's how my family rolls! We love our food!! ~ It must be in the genes ~ Most memorable dishes from the prix fixe menu were the: - Crab & Abalone Soup - Cold Cuts Platter - Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp - Crab - Peking duck with those buns - The yellow tapioca dessert at the end Other items that were good: - Steamed Fish - Veggies - Seafood Bird's Nest - Seafood in brown sauce - Fried Rice with Shrimp Ya, we waddled outta there. It was scrumptious and service was pretty good!

3.5 stars. I like how the back of the menu has pages of family style banquet options for you to choose from. Makes ordering for a large party so much easier! A group of friends and I decided to come dine here on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and there were a good amount of open spaces. We ordered a banquet prix fixe option in the back and switched out the crab dish with the lobster for a little bit more and ordered an additional salt and pepper shrimp. I think we had at least 10 dishes. Total for about 13 of us was $20 per person including tax and tip. Not bad! It was A LOT of food too. We actually didn't finish everything and had left overs. As and as for the popular house lobster, the portions were generous, but I found it a bit too salty for my liking. I've had a lot of lobster at Asian restaurants too and the seasoning on the lobster was way too strong. I think I finished maybe two small pieces. We took home the lobster as leftovers too, so I'm not sure the table was thrilled with it either. But other than that, some really delicious dishes that stood out for me was: -Fried whole fish -basil clams -Vietnamese sour soup (canh chua) -French style beef (bo luc lac) The rest of the dishes were tasty too, but not too memorable because I've eaten lots of these banquet meals. Service was ok. Kind of found it awkward when the waiter put the pot of soup on our table and promptly walked off with out serving it into the bowls. I'm just used to the waiter ladling out the soup for large parties. Aside from that, the food came out super quick.

Cheap and good, but dirty. They definitely need to shape up the restaurant. We had the walnut shrimp, lobster on top a bed of egg noodles (yum), salt & pepper shrimp, vietnamese style soup, peking duck (duck was try), house special fried rice (flavorful, filled w/ big chunks of shrimps and white meat chicken), mongolian beef (a bit salty). Overall, it's just your typical chinese restaurant in OC.

Super beat down interior. Tables and chairs that looked like they came from the 80's. Snippy Viet/Chinese servers in their black and red vests and torn dirty shoes. A sticky, falling apart menu. It has all the signs of a good Chinese restaurant. Except it isn't. Came on a Saturday night and the place was a ghost town. Only 2 other parties in the place and they were senior citizen status. Salt & Pepper Calamari: Super thick batter. Giant ass pieces. No seasoning whatsoever. Beef & Broccoli: underseasoned, tasteless pieces of beef. Way too much carn starch. Fried tofu: see calamari. Only saving grace, the bomb garlicky fish sauce (the red one) Clams w/ mint: Again underseasoned, over starched. Just tasteless Salt & Pepper shrimp: Undercooked batter and underseasoned. DIsgusting really. Kung Pao Chicken: The only good dish we had, chicken was perfect, seasoned well. $5 for a Heineken at a Vietnamese place!? GTFO! Yeah, I'm never coming back. Given all the much better choices just minutes nearby, why would you even bother with this place? Seafood Cove still reigns supreme in Little Saigon.

The lobster noodles here are hands down the best in the area. Great price (live lobster sold by the pound AND the server will come to your table with the live lobster in hand for your approval before being cooked) with generous portions, great flavors (fresh garlic, scallions, jalepenos) and quick service. Yes, the service may not be the absolute best, but then again, this is a traditional Chinese/Vietnamese establishment.

Royal Capital Seafood is a family style restaurant serving Chinese cuisine. I usually only go with my family, and our party ranges from 8 to 10 people each time. The dishes are reasonably price and are for the most part pretty damn delicious. My family and I order between 5 and 6 dishes to share. The go-to options that we love, and order every time, include the House Special Shrimp or Squid, and Fried Tofu. If you're in a large group and don't know what to order, there are family options in the back of the menu, keep in mind you can always substitute the different dishes in the family "combos." Like most Asian restaurants in the area the service isn't what you'll get at a typical American restaurant, but that doesn't bother me one bit. I'm here for the authentic Chinese cuisine, not the service.

I had lunch here because I knew there was a lunch special menu. I ordered house special chicken and spicy mint clams. Right away, they gave me menus, water, tea, & soup. The soup was mediocre. It was the kind with mushroom bamboo tofu. The chicken was pretty good. It was the right amount of crunchy outside and tender inside. Not too salty or sweet. The clams, on the other hand, tasted fishy. It tasted like what the seafood section of an Asian Super market smells like. The dessert at the end might have been the best part. Warm with mung bean, tapioca, seaweed. This poor restaurant needs a major face lift.

Hubby and I checked out this place for lunch one Saturday to get a feel for how it would be for his birthday bash. Although I was less than impressed, hubby liked it so we moved forward with our reservation for his birthday. The service was most of why I wasn't impressed. Our waiter became infinitely chummier when he realized we weren't there for the $5-$8 lunch specials. However, he basically disappeared after dropped off our bucket of rice post-order. Afterwards, we were basically ignored. When we asked a lady setting up a table nearby for some to-go boxes, she looked at us and proceeded to yell clear across the restaurant for someone. Then she quickly uttered "She said later!". A few minutes later, and still no to-go boxes, she came by our table to switch out the soy sauce bottle. I asked again to which she replied again "She said later!". So there we sat for another 10 minutes before another lady came over to wrap our food up and give us our check. Mind you, the restaurant was about 95% empty when we were there. 100% empty when we got there. Cut to hubby's birthday party, service was even worse! Again, it started out very promising when our server was very helpful in deciding our set banquet menu + a 4lb lobster. If you're familiar with Chinese banquet dining, there are certain...services...that are done for you at these kinds of meals. 1) Due to the onslaught of dishes, the table can't hold everything so the servers usually consolidate dishes onto smaller dishes so the new things can fit. When we asked "She said later" lady for this help, she came back and thrusted a small plate into the hands of my friend and proceeded to walk away. 2) Due to the large amount of shellfish we have, plates are changed at least once or twice during the meal. This was never done and I think I saw a look of surprise on our original server's face when he came back to check on us at the end of the meal. He spotted all the shells, etc. on the table and quickly came around the change our plates. Unfortunately, we were all already done eating!! I know I haven't said anything about the food but on the whole, it was quite average. The house-style lobster is probably its best dish. The crab that came with our meal tasted rancid and the steamed fish did not taste fresh and the sauce it was steamed in was VERY salty. No one touched it. Needless to say, we're never going back. I'll pay a few dollars more and go to Capital Seafood or something!!!

Live Shrimps gawd its freaking awesome. Between 2-3 people 2 lbs is good. I myself love a variety of dishes. Fried rice or some beef dish and a vegetable dish. Service is super attentive here. Came here several times and different times of the day and mostly evenings but its never crowded as it should be. Better for us I guess

Came here with a friend and her family. They ordered 10 different entrees, all of which were very appetizing. Cheap lunch specials and great portions! Service was average for a Vietnamese place. Most likely, they don't mean to be rude. I think they are just busy and that's just how it comes off. I will be back!

Great place to come for House Style Lobster. Steam fish, pea sprouts, and salt pepper shrimp is also delicious. Service is decent and prices are reasonable. But trust me when I say the only think your going to remember is the Lobster.

This is my current go to Chinese restaurant that I frequent during lunch. I arrived here from Seafood Cove to Tan Cang Newport Seafood in Santa Ana (they have the best lobster). Yeah it's kinda dirty and grimy with old chairs and not-so-clean carpet, but the food is quite good and the portions deserve an A in terms of size. -French Style Beef: Generous portion of tender beef done RC style. One of my favorite dishes here. -House Special Chicken: This is quite possibly my favorite dish here and I usually always order it. It's deep fried goodness in their house special sauce which I would kill for. -House Special Squid: Like I said, the house special sauce is the shit. IMO, of course. You can't go wrong with a place that packs your rice container full and doesn't charge you for it. It's unlimited rice. If you ain't with me than you're crazy. If it was my world, I would make charging for rice a felony. If you complain about the service, well that's how Chinese restaurants roll. The food here is consistent and I will continue to come back until they give me some nasty reason not to.

Sweet! I'm Royal Capital's 101th review! :] My dear sister, Jennifer V., snatched the 100th review from me just seconds ago. Anyway, my siblings and I usually get: -lobster: better than most places, but doesn't beat Newport. Of course, price is good for what it is. $9.99/lb -House special fillet fish with butter sauce: super gooooooood, especially if you like butter b/c this thing is literally drenched; i'm talking EpicMealTime calorie intake. -Clams: any variation is good, and we always choose different ones; it really depends on what you're craving -Pepper salt pork chop: it's good, but this is just something I order mainly for variation of meats and to play it safe for new guests. -French style beef cubes: it's good and all, but it's nothing special that I can't get elsewhere Recently tried: -Szechua Spicy Tofu with Pork (had 1 pieces of tofu and 1 piece of pork. I'm not a fan; you might like it if you like the complimentary hot soup they give you...the seasoning tastes kind of like that) -Soft crab with noodles (5/5...so gooooooooooooooood! crab is very flavorful, seasoned perfection, very crispy while not too crunch, and noodles are mouthwatering good!) Service is not great, but the food's good (if you like butter, the best things are house special items). +1 Star: complimentary soup and dessert (choose btw sweet soup or mango pudding); if you want to choose mango pudding, you have to request it otherwise they go with the default of sweet soup. +1 Star: cheap, affordable items +1 Star: very minimal wait every time I've come here +1 Star: delicious food -1 Star: service isn't always great and is sometimes inconsistent. TIP: Seafood Lunch $6.89 & Daily Lunch Special $6.39 [11A-3PM]

The food here never disappoints. I'm a huge fan of their Hot and Sour Thai Seafood Soup and also their House Special Seafood items. Super buttery. I only wish the restaurant was maintained nicely and that the service staff was nicer. It doesn't give the feel of a clean restaurant and the staff has no real tact when it comes to picking up the receipt, looking for their tip.

I would definitely recommend this place if you love a good meal at a good price. The portion is huge too! Anyways, I was just here earlier today and decided to make a review! Decor: For an Asian Restaurant, you can't really expect too much. Naturally, we expect restaurants to be nice and fancy cause of all the other American ones we've been too. But honestly, I rather have the place look like crap and have the best food then a place that looks nice and have okay food. This is for the people that complained about the decor. Cleaniness: I would say that it is decent. Some new carpet would look nice, but it would get dirty again pretty fast from all the food spillage. FOOD: I've been here many times and the food have never failed me. The food always tastes delicious and the portion is big enough to make you feel pregnant or fall into a food coma. The LOBSTER and the noodle is mouthwatering and a must try. Don't get more then 3 and a half pound though or you'll see more shell then meat. Hehe I usually go here during the lunch time which is from 11am til 3pm I believe. I don't remember, just get there before 3pm and you're set to go. Oooh, you get free soup and desert too! The desert was so good, I couldn't let it go to waste even though I felt like I was going to explode. Service: Everyone was really nice and friendly. The food came out faster then I anticipated (roughly 5 minutes or less) which is good of course. And the waiter constantly changed out dirty plates which was really nice. I felt bad for the people doing the dishes. Hehe sorry. Anyways, it's definitely a place to try. Remember, even if the place doesn't look fancy, the food deserves a try. && you can to go food too if you rather eat in the comfort of your home. :)

All the dishes came out cold! Even the dessert (sweet beans soup). The sea cucumber was hard like uncooked. The fried fish was soggy instead of crispy. The shrimp dish was dumped with a cup full of mayo (no joke). The fried rice was really salty. The only edible dishes were the clams and spare ribs. On the good note, the service was wonderful.

It was the worst nightmare experience at this restaurant. The place is so dirty, the waiters and waitresses are so rude and the ways they treated the customers were so ghetto. If the Health Department could come here, definitely this restaurant would be in trouble and shut down. For sure I would not ever come back ever again. NOT recommended for anyone who looks forward to the restaurant with decent food, better customer services and cleanliness. This restaurant doesn't carry any of those qualities. If I would, I could give them 0 star(s).

We walked in and the carpet smelled moldy. We sat down and saw a small baby cockroach on the table. That was it, we walked out. We have been here before and food was not bad. However, now after seeing n smelling what we saw. We will not go back.

After a drunken saturday at the beach, we just wanted to eat somewhere really good and we knew if we drove around brookhurst, we'd find one. Usually we'd just settle for boiling crab but he was feeling adventurous and we figure we'd take a gamble and try this place out, and they had a flashing light sign on the window that said 9.99 per lb for lobster. So we walk in and it was already a bit crowded. We were seated and immediately we got a big thing of rice plus hot and sour soup, hot tea, and waters. We sorta looked at each other wondering what was going on. Anyway we ordered black mushroom in black bean sauce, clams in black bean sauce, lobster with garlic and ginger and shrimp withgarlic and scallions...and omg..they were all so delicious!!! When we asked about the lobster, the guy even brought our lobster to make sure the size was ok. The portions were excellent and since it was just the two of us, I'm sure we looked like piggies but when were out of town, eating is what we do best so no shame and we got to take the rest home which was our dinner as well. Definitely be coming back for more. Lucky for us, there was a place up in SF that reminded us.

Wow, I thought I'd never write anything bad about this place BUT, today this place left a bad taste in my mouth. Don't get me wrong, the food were very good. Service on the other hand was terrible. We asked to get our order in about three times and no one showed up. Finally got our order in and about 10 to 15 minutes later, food comes one at a time. =| which doesn't bother me much at this time. I'm trying to be patience. Then we asked for a glass of ice water for everyone approximately 5 times again and finally it came. The waitress who brought our water did not look happy. Whatever happen to service with a smile or at least pretend you like your job. You are in a service business, SERVE!!! With a smile!!! =) Here come the best part, checking out. Whoop whoop!! They know exactly when to bring our check. WTH(What The Heck??) That is amazing!! There is more, I'm reading the receipt and I couldn't understand crap about it, but it was close enough to what I guesstimated except for one charge that I thought was a TIP charge. So I thought hhhhmmmm....Tip? Already added? Ok....So I just brush it off and stay cool and paid the bill. Right when we were about to walk out, the waitress said to me, "Wait, the tip is not added yet." WTH??? I'm a nice guy I did not argue much, I just asked her what was that extra charge was and she couldn't answer me. So, I brush it off once again and just left about $20 dollar tip and walk out. On the way out, wife told me that the waitress said, "Over $200 and only $10 tip?". We put $10 on each table. She need to learn how to add. Holy poo, I'm so disappoint at this place. Even the food is good, I will not return ever again.

My boss love this place, so we go here very often. The food here is blah, and service is typical rude Asian workers. We came here for lunch, and my boss saw the plate of beef at an empty table so he asked the waitress what it was so he can order it. The waitress said its kung pao beef, you want? he said, yes I would like to order that please. A second later, we saw the owner picked up the beef plate right in front of our face, which was sitting there for god knows how long, put it at our table. We told her we wanted a new plate, she said its good, its ok eat it! and then the lobster dish came out with mostly shell and no meat. I was so upset, I wanted to walk out. My boss was upset, complained but continued to eat to get it over with bc he was afraid if he'd complain they might spit in his food. Def. will never come back!

If you have never had the BEST, then coming here might feel like the BEST. We have come here several times, but each time we come back, it gets worst and worst. The lunch pricing is worth it, but not the dinner. And its so damn annoying that on the weekends, they literally raise the price on lobsters. UnSNEAKY bastards (I know what you are up to) The house sauce that they use on the calamari and lobster is always inconsistent (and those dishes are the main reasons why we come) This last visit we ordered some clams and unfortunately it came out half undone? Some clams were still undercooked. I really don't get how they can do that when we were the ONLY costumers in there at 5:10pm on a Wednesday. The place is definitely not the best looking restaurant either...long story short, the food is ok, lunch price is better and we are huge fans =( FYI for anyone who travels to SGV area, do try Newport Seafood Restaurant. The price on the French style beef is exactly the same there (a nice place) vs here (a yucky place)

We usually go often because the food is really good but service is horrible waitress are very impolite and for that reason I never leave tips because we don't get water they just throw the plates at your table and I notice that since the fist time I was there now I notice that whenever I walk away from thet place waitress even talk bad about us because we don't leave tips which I think first they have to earn it plus tips are a gratitude that definitely why should I be grateful if service is horrible mean and very unsatisfactory. They work with customers they should learn how to treat a customer.

Simple. Food sucks and service sucks. I will never come back. I took my family 27 people. They even tried to overcharge me with items i didnt order. Receipt/check written in chinese, i made them list it out in english and I caught them. Never ever again. Those cheating bastards.

Came here for a birthday party this apst weekend. This place is bigger than it looks. It's huge inside. And the service is great. SInce I was here for a party I had no control of what was ordered. I heard the order but didn't understand what was said. Only because it was ordered in Cambodian, being that my wife and friends are cambodian. The menu is so huge. It has selections from almost all of southeast Asia. Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and of course Chinese. The food that was ordered was seriously good. The seafood really is their specialty. It was all good. They also have reasonably priced house specials. It's worth the drive. Good for large crowds and small ones alike. So if your in the moode for asian food but decide whether you want chinese or thai, this is the place for you.

Didn't order any lobster but pretty average chinese food otherwise. - house special chicken - best thing we had. - bo luc lac - not as tender or flavorful as i have had previously at other spots. - combination rice noodle was a little bland. - won ton soup was standard and fiance thought that was very bland. she said 2.5 overall. i'll still stick with the normal capital seafood down the street.

Came here with the boyfriend on a rainy night. Shrimp with lobster sauce, this steak dish and... a chicken dish!? JUST KNOW THAT IT'S ALL GOOD. I just remember being extremely full and extremely happy. Their tapioca with mung bean dessert was also delicious.

Your service is always flip flop depending on the server Dishes are okay for the price, portions are decent. I love the clams with black bean sauce, house special chicken and the fried fish during lunch time. and it's true, sit anywhere near the kitchen and you better make sure you get a shower in before anything else.

Did not feel very welcomed. There was a lot of empty tables and they kinda just shoved us in the corner. Our waitress gave me the stink eye when I asked for a glass of water. The food was ok. Next time I go I will bring an Asian person with me, maybe they will be nicer.

Stopped by this place before heading back home. We got the house special squid and lobster. It sauce was amazing!!! I only thing I can say bad about this place is the smell, looking at the carpet it looks like it haven't been steam clean in awhile.

The second I stepped foot in here, I thought of that scene in "The Christmas Story" where Ralphie's family is eating at a Chinese restaurant on Christmas. Yes, that kitschy Chinese decor had a lot to do with it. Chopping the duck's head, the heavily accented waiters singing "Fah rah rah rah..." Just classic. We wanted some homey-style Chinese food without driving up to LA, so we decided to try this place. As we sat down, just about every one of their huge roundtables were packed, ranging from old people to young people. Those "lazy susans" were getting a mad spinning workout. For food, of course we had to go with the house special lobster with noodles. At $8.99 per pound, with the smallest lobster at 3.5 pounds, I thought it was a nice deal. We surrounded that with the pan fried fish, soft tofu with shrimp, gai lan, and the crab asparagus soup. The lobster meat was tender and succulent, with the sweetness from the house special sauce shining through on every bite (and lick of the shell). On a huge bed of noodles slathered in the same sauce, it was a good complement to the lobster. Not sure that it was worth an additional $6 just for the noodles, but good to try once nonetheless. Everything else was nicely executed, nothing to complain about. The pan fried fish was massive and crispy, with the soy sauce served on the side, if you want to keep your sodium levels on the down low. The gai lan was crisp and not overcooked. The white asparagus soup with crab was soothing, liquid comfort food at its best. At the blink of an eye, their complementary tapioca dessert appears and our leftovers packed in takeout boxes that towered above the table. How would they know I'm full? What if I'd like to stay an extra few hours for 2nd dinner? It cracks me up. This is definitely a place where you get more value in a large group, sharing multiple dishes.

I walked out of this place and i was furious! Don't order the scallops on the lunch specials menu! I'll explain why! the food isn't bad and neither is the service but the owner is a piece of shit!... I happened to be in that part of town and a friend suggested we eat there and that he loves their food. We walk in, sit down, order... a few minutes later our food came out. the fish fillet is really good and so was the chicken. the fried squid was also really good but what I had ordered was the biggest joke ever. i ordered the scallops with asparagus and peppers. i only got one piece of scallop and mostly jalapeno peppers so i advised my waiter and he started digging through my food with a giant spoon to make sure. i didn't like that he didn't take my plate away and do it elsewhere instead he was looking for food that wasn't there, right in front of me! not professional! then he gets the manager and tells him i only got one piece of scallop and the manager comes and yells at me in Vietnamese. In the rubbish he was yelling i understood "scallop 3 dollar every piece" and so i thought, If that's the case "then why put it on the menu dumb ass" instead chose to keep my comments to myself. that's when i lost it and wanted to get up and leave and not pay but my buddies were already eating and i sucked it up and ate my asparagus, paid, and left. the restaurant isn't bad but the owner is an asshole. who does that! at least be polite about it. don't yell at the person eating at your restaurant dick-hole! never going back. thanks to that stupid veit ass hole! ruined my day

I love this place. The family and I have been coming to this place for years! It's amazing. I absolutely love this one hot/spicy shrimp soup. I can never remember the name of it, it has jumbo shrimp, pineapple, tomatoes some leaves, and I like to mix it with the steam rice. It's sooooo yummy! I pretty much love everything at this place, it's a little pricey but worth every cent. They're super nice and friendly. Had my moms anniversary dinner there once. They allowed me to bring cake, they cut it for us, and it' was just so lovely. That place is AWESOME!! Loyal customer, will never stop visiting this place even though I only go 2-4 times a year, it's to die for!!!

Came here last night with the family and would have to say I'm very impressed. Now take the following into consideration. - The place is a bit on the "worn out looking" side. - There is a "weird" smell when you come in. I'm guessing it's the permeating grease smell throughout the restaurant. - Look at the online menu prior to going in... it's huge and took about 15 minutes to get 6 people to decide on 4 dishes. - This is nowhere nearly as good as some places up in the Monterey Park area, but better than any Hong Kong Express/American-Chinese place. - Can get VERY noisy. We ordered the following: - salt/pepper pork - orange chicken - eggplant w shredded pork & oyster sauce - schezwan shrimp Wife ordered the pork, was not what she wanted but was tasty none the less. Breaded & fried pork was tasty and would get again. Good with the sriracha sauce they have. Orange chicken was crispy and tasty some felt it was lacking in the lack of orange flavour, others enjoyed just the same. Schezwan Shrimp was tasty as well. The eggplant was really good and the highlight of the meal overall. - Biggest complaint - Just because I'm not Asian does not mean I want my meal prepared differently. I love (LOVE) food, especially from different cultures and I want to have it prepared as close as possible to what the original dish is. Stop "whitening" my food please! 3 of the 4 dishes were all labeled as spicy but none of them were. I've had macaroni and cheese spicier than what I was served. All in all we'll come back. It's just nice to have a decent Chinese place to go to.

This place is perfect if you're going with a large group of friends or family. The dishes are very reasonably priced and delicious. The lazy susan makes sharing easy too. Food: 5 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Pricing: Very reasonable Try out these items. The serving sizes are large enough for you to easily share with 4 or 5 other people, maybe more. House special lobster with noodles - This type of seasoning Royal Capital uses makes any other lobster you eat taste bland! It's amazing, try it with noodles. Bonus: I think you can order this to go, so if you're hosting a potluck or need to bring an item over for a dinner you can definitely call this one in and they'll make it for you. Walnut shrimp - On par with other Chinese restaurants. Deef fried tofu - This plate comes with 2 sauces and about 8+ pieces if I remember correctly. Even though it's fried, it has a light crisp refreshing taste. The funny thing is they have a wall with 8x10 photos of the alcohol they have there which you can buy by the bottle. This is right next to the photos of the boba... next to the restroom!

If you want to dine at a fancy schmancy high end restaurant with a million dollars worth of glass decor at every turn, elegant bathrooms and enthusiastic waiters at your beck and call, do NOT come here. But if you want to eat real, authentic chinese cuisine where they are not going to use the leanest cuts of meat or hold back on the oil, or even give you great service, come here. The waiters are usually pushy and impatient as they wait for families to place their order and many times will literally leave your table to do some other duty, come sprinting back without apologizing. However, their house special tofu makes up for all that the restaurant's appearance, and waiters are lacking. Whenever I visit my dad, which is not very often given my schedule of IBs and extracurriculars, and I feel like spending some quality time with him, I tell him to order the tofu and rice to go and eat it at his "office". We can sit there in complete silence, relishing the tofu that's sitting in a pool of the ultimate mixture of soy sauce, garlic, oil, and other warm spices, not talk about anything at all and feel perfectly content. It's probably not only because our relationship has gotten to the point where we don't say much but because the tofu is now happily sitting in our tummies hitting the spot, as we continue to consume the dish with nothing more then chopsticks and a side of plain white rice. This is the dish that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, without even really trying to. If you are ever having a day where you just want to get that nostalgic feeling of happy, go to Royal Capital and order their tofu.

BEST Seafood restaurant in SoCal. Hands down. Stir fried clam done right. Sour fish soup from Heaven. Fresh lobster they bring to your table to show you before it gets cooked. Crab with stir fried sauce you could lick off your fingers !!! Sea cucumbers and fried flounder that is criminally good! Been coming here for years and nothing has beat it yet.

HOUSE SPECIAL SQUID is a must! It starts to get packed during dinner time on the weekends so try and get there a little early. The Canh Chua and House Special Lobster is pretty good too... Bathrooms need a little remodeling.. =/

My grandma's faaavvorrite! Use to come here A LOT during my childhood & then...I dont know what happened.. the food here is actually pretty good! Can get a tad oily..like most chinese restaurants. -One of the only times I ever eat fish voluntarily is here!!! I think its either the fish filet with black bean sauce or the house special filet fish with butter sauce! Fried whole shrimp seasoned with salt & pepper -it's as simple as that! -can get a little too salty though House Special Lobster with E-mein -FIrst of all, I LOVE LOVE e-mein. I am not quite sure why I enjoy it so much, but it is some good shit. (If you love E-mein, venture out to Hong Kong Palace or New Capital. My infatuation for E-mein started there!) -Anyways, back to the lobster...its pretty tasty. I am pretty sure Lobster Lovers will enjoy this very much. Unfortunately, Im not a fan of Lobster. (CRAB, FTW BABY!) Mussels/Clams??!! - never bothered to try them because not a fan of mussels or clams...(yuck!) -Okay..i probably did try one and they LOOK absolutely mouthwatering, but the clam and mussel itself..is vomit in my mouth. Trust me, I've tried to like them, but NADA! Seafood Chow Fun w/ gravy sauce -Recently had this and pretty damn good if you ask me. -My brother downed the whole dish Kay choi cold chicken -Mom's favorite at most restaurants -Not too bad, a bit too salty for me.. Just realize this review sounds like I dont like anything! hahaah **side note: If you LOVE crab & I guess, lobster , seriously go to Hong Kong Palace and New Capital! The many different ways they cook the CRAB is incredibly delicious! ohh ohh ohhh AND.. they normally have crazy specials. Something like if you get a certain amount of food, lobster or crab is 99 cents per lbs and may come with a complementary dish or extra dessert. I dont know, talking out of my ass right now. My mom usually handles all that jazz! -maybe, I should just review them instead.... restaurant is a bit dirty though!

Lobster! That's one of their specialties. Recommend it with the house special sauce. I had dinner here when I had family from Hong Kong in town. We ordered one of their family meal options and added the lobster to it. We ordered a 3 pound lobster. It was good enough for us (party of 5). The rest of the items were good as well. The clams with basil was next on the list after the lobster. The service is ok. Don't expect too much since it's one of those typical asian restaurants. Food is good but the service needs improvement. The place had a steady stream of customers eating there so that's a good sign.

I wish they would update their website. It looks dated and doesn't justify just how delicious their food is. I love ordering family style here because it is incredibly cheap for all the food you get. My favorite dishes are hot and sour fish soup, french style beef steak and stir fried crab legs! So much flavor, all very distinct. If you are looking for an affordable, convenient and group-friendly environment, this is one to consider. Though waiters are generally kind, don't expect an outstanding service because this place is (almost) always busy and the place is pretty tight so they don't check up on you as often as you'd like. Enjoy!

Group of 4, decided to order one of the family meals which consisted of: Mussels with black bean sauce: great taste! Not too salty. Went perfect with rice. Salt and pepper shrimp: I thought it was a small portion Steamed fish: so delicious. Crab soup: mediocre. There wasn't enough crab meat for me We also ordered the lobster house special on the side. I personally like Newport Seafood's house lobster better because they have that pork skin crunchies. Royal's lobster had the butter taste I'm not too fond of. It was lobster though. So it was still good. :) Their complementary dessert was hot and thick and good. I think its called "che hot sen" in Vietnamese. Service was fast. The only thing I didn't like was when he told us they were out of crab (we wanted to order a family dinner that included crab) and told us to substitute chicken or pork. What!!! Since when does crab go for .99/lb at the market. This man was trying to rip us off. Otherwise, good place.

I'd give this place 4-stars, but because they keep lying to me (and everyone else) about the weight of live seafood - especially lobster - I'm giving them an a-ok rating. "Three and a half pound" lobster no matter what day, time, or how many people you come here to eat with. Does this sound familiar? Anyone... anyone?! This became my chinese family dinner go-to spot after I divorced Seafood Capital (read my review of them to understand why). Everything here is pretty solid and predictable for family-style chinese dinner (prix fix menu, if you will). Since I'm super mad that they keep selling me "three and a half pound" lobsters when, clearly, lobsters are usually smaller than that and/or vary in size, I'm taking a hiatus from this place and trying out other restaurants in search of a replacement. Other important info: typical greasy chinese family-style restaurant, 'three and a half pound' lobster always (it's their story and they're sticking to it), solid chinese food, go for the solid food and not for the service.

I had lunch here today with some friends. Come before 3:00 or else you have to pay twice the amount :P You get free sweet and sour soup. I don't like this soup so I can't really say much about it, but it's worth a try. - French style beef tasted more like Cambodian style. It didn't have the basil like I expected, but it was tender and flavorful. - String bean with shrimp (50 cent extra) It came in a chili sauce, but it wasn't spicy, but a nice tangy flavor. - Fried fish was not the fish I expected. It was cooked Cambodian style which I love because it's a mouth full of flavor and crunch green onions. - Shrimp with house special e-mein is delicious! Sadly it was cooked the same way as the fried fish, but I love the flavors and it really goes well the with noodles. Lastly, you get mango dessert. The price is reasonable if you go early!

I love this place! We've been going to this one, as well as the other Capital Seafood down the street, for years now and it has always satisfied. Graduations, birthday celebrations, random weekend dinners, etc... we find a reason to go here every couple of months. Our go-to dishes are the house special squid, house special pork chop and pea sprouts in garlic sauce. Other great items we've had are the house special lobster (really, that house special sauce is a winner!), the mongolian beef, the orange chicken, the hot and sour soup and the fried tofu. All consistently delicious. The decor needs a little work, but the food is excellent. And you can't beat free dessert. Capital is capital!

I just found out recently, if you like the house special lobster but it's too expensive...get the house special shrimp! Same sauce and it taste exactly the same to me! Pretty good, the waiters were attentive and nice :] lots of families. Regular price as other Chinese restaurants around the area. I don't think it's the best, I think all the restaurant around the area has the same quality. It somehow seems "bland" but it's not bland, if you know what I mean o_o The sweet soup you get at the end is pretty good.

This place has its on and off days. Nevertheless, during lunch time, the prices are decent and the food (depending on what you order) tastes pretty good. This is a safe place for those who have been going there for years but for newcomers, not so much. What I mean is that if you have already frequent there quite a bit, mostly likely you have already gotten used to the service and you know what your favorite dishes are. If you are newcomer, you probably will not like it.

If you have a big gathering, this is the place to feed your group. Tasty food, but now with higher prices...still decent though. The house special lobster or salt and peppered crab always hits the spot for me. I love my chinese food!

Their regular items on the menu seem a bit pricey but if you order from the lunch special section it quickly becomes a bargain! One lunch special can be shared by two people and I was happy with my schezuan tofu with pork, wasn't as spicy as I was hoping it to be but their siracha sauce packets took care of that. Buddy ordered the lunch special house special tofu dish and the restaurant ended up giving us another togo plate full of rice, HOLY COW they aren't stingy with their rice. 3 starving guys had a hard time finishing the two lunch specials.

Date: 03/09/12 @ 6PM Pros: Large portions, mostly good food. Cons: Food comes out randomly and takes a while, restaurant inner kind of grimy, confused food runner. My wife and I were seated in the main dining area on the raised platform--kind of a weird area, but whatever. The restaurant was maybe 1/3 full when we arrived. After a few minutes, one of the servers came by and dropped off a container of white rice and a pot of tea. After a few more minutes, another server came by to take our order. We ordered the House Special Shrimp, Salt and Pepper Squid and String Beans. The food seemed to take a long time to come out...maybe more than 20 minutes before our first dish came out. The first thing that came out was our shrimp. True to other Yelp user experiences, the food runner brought our food to the wrong table first, before realizing the dish was ours. We liked the shrimp--they were crispy and the sauce had a good flavor. We'd definitely get this dish again. About 10 minutes later, our squid came out. The dish consisted of larger-than-bite-size pieces of squid, dipped in a plain batter and fried, with a small dish of salt, pepper and a wedge of lime. The squid was cooked well and wasn't chewy, but the batter was kind of too thick and was bland. Dipping them in the salt/pepper/lime mixture didn't really do much for the flavor. I've had better versions at other restaurants. We'd probably pass on this in the future. Lastly, our string beans came out...about 5 minutes after the squid. I believe the description of the dish on the menu describes it as "Green beans sautéed with garlic" or something like that. Considering that we ate here due to Lenten Friday, we were kind of surprised when we found the dish had a good amount of bite-sized slices of pork or beef. So we ended up just picking at the green beans and taking it to-go for the next day. Despite the surprise, the dish was good and the green beans were cooked, but still had a snap. As we got our check, they brought out two small bowls of mung bean & tapioca dessert for us. Ignoring the confused food runner, service was fine. Everyone seemed to speak and understand English well enough. Being an Asian restaurant, they're not going to go around and check on tables, but flagging them down and asking for whatever you need works fine. This place is kind of run down...so there is that. My wife said the place had a smell, but I didn't notice one. Though the sticky floor in the men's restaurant kind of grossed me out. We'll probably stop by next time to try the Lobster Noodles.

12-person party. 8:30 on a Saturday night. The place was packed and loud. A seedy kind of place, with tawdry curtains and old dinnerware. Ordering was chaotic. I think we had 3 waiters try to get our order, and they "forgot" one dish by the end of dinner, even though I saw the guy write it down. The first lobster dish we ordered was sent back because there was nearly no meat inside and the flesh had the texture of pre-frozen meat. They replaced it with another one, but this one was a little over salted. Come to think of it, everything was a little over-salted and had too much butter. The cashew chicken was bland, and didn't taste fresh (might have been frozen). The battered shrimp was good and crispy. The fried lobster was horrible. The "canh chua" smelled funky and wasn't worth a penny. The curry beef was tough and bland. There was a 1-inch cock roach on the table, which freaked out one of our dinner guests. Once notified, the waiter promptly removed it from the table. Overall, it was a chaotic experience: sub-par food, disorganized waiters, lack of cleanliness, and brusque service. Yet this place was packed. Go figure.

My favorite Chinese food restaurant in Orange County! When I was younger, my family used to go here for dinner a few times a month so I there are a few dishes that I hold close to my heart. First, the house special squid. I think this has the potential to be what I want as my last meal on earth. It's soooo good! It's basically fried squid covered in XO sauce, which I think is the same sauce they use for lobster. I'm not a chef, so I really don't know what it is, but it's frickin' delicious! The house special shrimp with e-mein is also excellent. So is the salt & pepper pork chop! And the fried fish! Actually, now that I think of it, everything here is good, including the tapioca dessert they give you at the end of your meal. They also have a great lunch special menu which starts at $5.99 an item. 5 stars all the way!

Came here two nights away with some friends and ordered one of the family style menus. For about $90, we got: - hot & sour fish soup: delicious, just the right amount of sour - clams: delicious! - house special shrimp: my favorite dish! lightly mayo-ed shrimped with caramelized walnuts.. yummmm - steamed fish: very tasty - beef lok lak: cubed beef over a bed of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions served with sauce. mmmmmm! - chow fun: I'm not a big fan of chow fun, but this was pretty good - crab: sooo good! well seasoned - veggies Bonus points because we got dessert at the end of our meal! They served what most asian restaurants served, not sure what it's called exactly, but I'll call it a yellow bean dessert. I was definitely stuffed, and happy with my meal.

If you're looking for a quick Asian seafood dinner, then Royal Capital is your place. We were seated immediately upon entering, handed menus, then the waiter was back in 2 minutes to take our order. When we asked for a couple more minutes, he just hovered over our table. After taking our order, our soup came out within 5 minutes. And everything else was literally set on our table in lightning speed. It was the quickest execution of food I've ever seen, aside from at pho restaurants that is. We ordered a spread of seafood dishes which included: * Crab and white asparagus soup: not bad but on the starchy side, and I wasn't a big fan of the overcooked white asparagus * House Special fish fillet: battered and deep fried fish, drenched in a very tasty yet unhealthy butter sauce * Lemongrass mussels: large meaty mussels in a lemongrass curry sauce * French-style beef cubes: so tender and a huge favorite at our table * Braised tofu: not as good as many other Chinese restaurants do Along with three bottles of Tsingtao, our bill came out to about $65. Not a bad price tag for such large portions and fresh seafood. My only complaints are that you definitely feel rushed here (even if the place isn't full) and the restaurant is in need of a deep interior cleaning. We were seated next to a window with blinds and I kept noticing there were remnants of sauce splattered on the blinds and wall. Ugh.

I came to this restaurant many times because I love the house special lobster. It tastes delicious. Dry and not too soft. The price is great, $8.99 per pound. Due to seasons, the price may go up or down 1-2 dollars per pound. I think the chef deep fried the lobster. The food smells excellently. May order noodle with the lobster together. It costs $6 more for the noodle. It is worthy. The noodle tastes great because it absorbed the lobster sauce and other ingredients! I found it was interesting. When I asked for a small lobster, most of the times it weighted 4 and 1/4 pounds. If missing a claw, it weighted 3 and 3/4 pounds. I like French Style Beef, Deep Fried Tofu, House Special Squid, and Deep Fried Founders here. Decoration is not good. The place is not too clean. Service is okay. However, it is a reliable place for me to bring in the friends. They could enjoy the food and I could control my budget!

Big restaurant with plenty of space, but never really crowded. A good variety of foods @ cheap prices. The portion is good, not HUGE but not skimpy either. Service is not the best but definitely better than most Viet eateries. This place would be nice for a (Vietnamese) wedding. Their decor is simple but classy; the ceiling is quite beautiful; and everything looks pulled together and clean. I like their clams with mint leaves appetizer; you eat this dish with harden seasamed rice cracker. This is the only dish that stands out to me. I've had others, but it pretty much is like any other place.

Went here for a friends birthday. The food was okay but we had better. The environment was very dirty. I almost fell down going into the ladies restroom...actually all their floor were slippery that sunday night. One of the waiter spilled HOT food on our friend's arm and seems like they didn't even care or give us a discount on our food we order and we did jokingly ask for a discount. We should have complain to them more but since it was our friend's birthday we didn't want to make a huge deal and ruining it for him.

Food and service was very much below par today for the husband and me. We try not to cook because the results are seldom successful. However, we've eaten at many places and know where the bad/good places are. Anyway, we ordered takeout dinner like usual. It included of: kung pao shrimp, clams house special with the mint leaves, snow peas w/garlic, shrimp fried rice, and sweet and sour pork. Overall the pickup is fast, it took about 20 minutes. It was approximately $60, not bad pricing for so much food. The taste of each dish tonight was very bland, tasteless, and overly soggy. I agreed to let all the poor quality/taste factors go (on most of the dishes), but I couldn't get over the sweet and sour pork. Even a fast food chinese place can beat this taste/quality for 1/4 of the price. So we called and told them I am driving back to show them how bad that pork was. We only tried like two pieces from the box. I just had to share what happens next, the lady at the register gives me back my money $9.95 (no tax included, like they charged) and says, "perhaps you don't know how to eat sweet and sour pork." haha...c'mon it's not like the dish has an acquired type of flavor/taste like lamb, goat..or etc...it's SWEET AND SOUR PORK!!!! moreover...she should look at me..i didn't gain my roundness for not knowing how to eat...give me break! I think after this visit, we are going to take a break from this place for an indefinite time period. The food was such a disappointment and we've let it slide a few times before. We've had a bad experience with their walnut shrimp, but didn't say anything at the time. Anyway, hope this helps. =)

One of my 3 favorite Chinese restaurants in Socal. I highly recomend trying RCSA b4 passing away or moving out of the area at least ;P Must tries: 1) House special squid 2) Egg plant 3) Clam 4) Spicy salted anything (pork, shrimp, etc.) 5) House special lobster 6) Everything else on the menu Ha, it's that good! Because all the things they make taste fresh and straight out of the wok, not that waiting under a heat lamp Panda Express stezz. Knowing when to go is also key, of course it can get really crowded over the weekends during rush hours. But being a half hour early makes a world of difference. Did I mention the price? It's super affordable on a budget. You can splurge and not even break a sweat in your wallet. A while back, like around 2008, they would take cash only but now CC are accepted.

Seafood Cove gets crowded.... I also like how much quieter this place is in comparison to the "Cove." Food is great for the most part; hasn't happened to me yet, but sometimes, I'm sure the chef is anxious to go out for a smoke or somethin', and he rushes and you get semi poopy-tasting food :( Like i said, hasn't happened to me, and I'm knocking on my wooden bed post as I type the last few words of this review! Oh yes, my favorite dish is the house special fish filets :) Enjoy!

First things first: Do not go to this restaurant expecting a nice ambiance, good service, or spotless cleanliness because you will feel pretty robbed. This applies to almost all other authentic Vietnamese/Chinese restaurants in the OC. Nope, my friends you go to Royal Capital Seafood for some great food and if you're lucky enough to get a smile on your server's face.. well that's just the cherry on top of a great day. I definitely recommend 'House Special' anything at this joint. It pretty much means it comes lightly breaded, woked to a slight crisp, and glazed with a sweet-tangy sauce. Most specifically, the house special lobster w/ noodles & house special short ribs are two of my faves. The Thai style sweet and sour soup is pretty standard to all the other Chinese restaurants but it's always on my must have list. There you have it, Royal Capital Seafood equals great, authentic Chinese/Vietnamese food - nothing more, nothing less.

Capital Seafood is a traditional, family-style Chinese restaurant that caters to a diverse Asian crowd that includes Cambodians (like myself). The food is decent, the service could be better, and the dishes aren't always clean. I just somehow always find a way back with relatives.

I met up with a buddy here the other night. Not being a fan of seafood, I was kind of worried about the food. Fortunately, this isn't only a great place for seafood (based on what my friend's tell me), but a great place for Sweet and Sour Chicken and Mongolian Beef! The portions were huge, so definitely plan on sharing. The taste was amazing, very fresh flavor too it. Being that I am on a diet, I did not try the rice, but it was white steamed rice, so you can imagine what it tastes like. They also provide you with hot green tea before the meal and dessert after the meal! All included in the price of your meal! Would I go back to this place? Yes - my one regret this time was not being more adventurous on my food selections. Next time I'll try something that sounds weird as I am sure it will also taste great!

I love this place! Lemme tell you they give out free hot and sour soup, free rice, free tea, free water, and free dessert during the lunch special which extends from opening until 3pm everyday. The only reason it gets 4 stars is because I feel like a gigantic sleepy monster after I eat here. It's a food coma/heart attack awaiting to happen. Seriously, some of the food has way too much oil. Otherwise, I'd eat here everyday since the prices are awesome, the food makes me happy, and the servers are so friendly and know how to keep me coming back!

  • Aaron R.

I have been here a few times and the food is usually good and the prices are good. This time around the woman taking our order was more than rude. She didn't understand a substitution we were trying to make and so she got frustrated and told us "This is taking too long" and walked off to the back. When she came back much later she showed us the live lobster we were ordering. After we accepted it she needed to free up her hands to finish taking our order so she set the lobster on the floor!! I was ready to leave but the rest of my party wanted to stay. I used to be a repeat customer and now I'm a non-customer. They must be making a ton of money because they don't value customers.

Went here awhile back. The food was pretty good, however the service sucked. It was like we did not exist and it was almost empty. Not sure if it was because we were the only non-Asians in the place or not. Won't be back.

Wow house shrimp is like an orgasm in my mouth! I shit you not! I've tried other items, but I keep coming back for more shrimp! The buttery goodness! Add some steamed rice & you're good! Where have you been all my life?!?! The free dessert is good too unless its the tapioca & I love tapioca :( And why do I keep getting the waiter with the looooooooong hair on his mole?

We had a good dinner here last Sunday. Six of us ordered the following dishes: Asparagus & crab soup - not bad, not great Live lobster over noodles - very fresh and tasty. One of the best prices at $9.95/lb. We did not want to order the 5+ pounders instead we settled with two 2+ pounders which was just fine. Watch out if you want to add noodles, they charge $6.50 for each portion and we had 2 portions for $13, this was a bit of a surprise. Kung-poh shrimp - good portion, nicely cooked Basil clams - pretty good Eggplant - good but greasy Pepper and salt spareribs - a bit too dry Stir fried vegetables - good Total bill before tips was about $140, not bad for what we ordered, planty of leftover to take home. The vantilation system can use some improvement, my sweater smelled like food after the dinner. Will come back if in the area.

Last time i was here i got the house special fish and the house special lobster. The lobster was HUGE .. a full 7 lbs!!! (they had ran out of smaller lobster). At only 9.99 a lb or so for the lobster, it's a STEAL!. DELICIOUSSSSS!! Normally you can't even buy lobsters in the store for under that price and this was a LIVE lobster! mmmmmmmmmMMMmm LOBSTER =] I've give 5 stars, except that they had sold out of lobsters under 7 lbs =( So totally worth it though.

The secret about this place is to come between the hours of 11-3pm. (trust me, i've been coming here with my family for some time now.) Why? Lunch specials are between $5.99-6.95 and you can definitely feed a family of 4 for less than $20 dollars (if you please) and even have leftovers to bring home. The food here is pretty good. I can't go into details about everything that we've had since we always come here, but take note that it's worth a try. We've tried: -Fried tofu (we always order this :D) -Kung Pao Beef -Short Rib Beef -Green Bean and mint chili -Sweet and Sour Shrimp -Fried Scallops -Clams in a mint chili sauce -house special fish. ...that's only to name a few, we've been coming here for years so the list would be pretty long. check out the pictures i uploaded (it's rare that i upload pictures) and you can get a feel for what it looks like. The food is good and cheap. the only down side is that it tends to be a bit oily, but other than that, cheap and good food, who can complain?

I have been a loyal customer here at Royal Capital Seafood for over 15 years! For as far as I can remember my mom would take us here for their awesome lunch special. This place has the best authentic Chinese food around. I always go with a big group and we order the whole menu basically. My faves are the house special fish, kung pao chicken, mongolian beef, veggie dish, chow mein, and honey walnut shrimp. My friends get the house special squid. I'm not a big fab of that. My mom always gets this dish of shrimp and it kinda creeps me out because it looks like they're fried and they're whole. Head rates on all. Lol It's three courses. You get soup to start off, your entree, then dessert. I love this place. Service is pretty good here. They do come off a little rude at times according to new comers but you get used to it and realize they don't mean to be. Parking really really suck here. There are no spaces and they are all tiny if your lucky enough to find one. People will double park and block you in so be careful. Also I would not recommend bringing your nice car to this area. It will get dinged one day if you come often. Oh and FYI the whole place is filled with Chinese. And if they are not Chinese they most likely came with someone who is. I have nothing bad to say about this place. I luv Royal Capital Seafood!!!

The first time i stopped here because i noticed the khmer writing on the outside of the restaurant, and I have kept coming back. Everything I have tried I love here, including the house special anything, salt pepper pork, clams in tamarind sauce, mongolian beef and lobster. I have been here for the rice porrige fix, their menu is exhasting! You cant beat their lunch specials or the complimentary dessert. However it is very typical asian customer service (although everyone is like tri-lingual) and there is a putrid pink theme in the restaurant. And parking can be horrible if its a busy night!

I usually go here for the lunch special i think the majority of the dishes cost around 6.99 for lunch. Environment: its kinda dirty looking and outdated. Food: the food is good especially their house special items such as fish filet and mussel. For quantity they give a good amount of food compared to other seafood restaurants. For service they are pretty mediocre, they don't really refill your water or ask if you need anything else. They just take your order and deliver your food and pick up the bill that's it.

I had four of the house specials, I believe there is only about four. The special house sauce was very good, I can definitely taste the MSG though. The biggest thing that failed me was I felt like total SH*T. The food was so oily I felt like I hadn't worked out in years. I could not move, I could not do anything, I was very winded, and nauseating. Maybe its because I'm not used to deep fried on fried on oiled on battered then oiled up again food (jk but srsly). Good but I can tell they go crazy on the oil and processing.

This place is so damn good there needs to be another star! Order the house special fish fillet and tip bul luc lac (french cubed beef) and it's game over. Plus go for lunch (11-3 weekdays only) and you'll get half off! $7 DOLLARS FOR BOTH ITEMS!!! They also give you hot & sour soup plus rice, and a dessert. If I could I would marry them and have kids with this restaurant.

Went here for dinner with friends and we had a great time. I can't decide if I like this place or Seafood Cove #1 better--after a while, they start to taste the same + they are down the same street. XD Had the salt and pepper shrimp--it was very good. The house special crab was just okay because there basically wasn't any meat. (I didn't pay for the meal, so I'm not docking stars. :p) I would definitely go here again to try some of the other entrees. :)

I've been going here for years with my family, at least 5 years and a cumulated 30 or so times, but only started Yelping recently. This is a well-deserved, long-overdue review and I'm more than happy to give this place 5 stars for the amazing value and amazing taste. No quality is sacrificed for cost and you can feed a luxurious meal to an entire family of 7 for under $100 and expect to have some leftovers to bring home. Greasy, yes. But you're going out for Chinese, what do you expect? What I say about grease is that if you're going to have some, make it count. Make sure whatever it is tastes great, and the dishes here sure live up to that. I will echo the reviews of others and say that the House Special Shrimp is out of this world, a garlic/soy/butter sauce that is phenomenally umami. The batter of the shrimp stays crisp and doesn't sog throughout the meal. Even better with the noodle accompaniment. I didn't discover that they offer the shrimp with noodles until just last year, and it just makes a good thing even better. Other dishes I've had that have been great: -Deep fried tofu: doesn't sound like much but their batter is light and airy, unlike that of other places. It is also served with two sauces: a savory soy and a sweet/sour/spicy plum sauce. - Deep fried fish: ask for your sauces on the side so the fish stays crisp. So delicious. Eat the fins; the fish is flash fried at such a high temperature that the fins are brittle and can be eaten like a potato chip from the sea. - French-style Pepper Beef: very tender pieces of beef with intense flavor. Pepper is not overpowering at all. - Stir-fried Clams in Basil & Black Bean Sauce: You'll never want to go to an American Clam bake again after having clams tossed in such a wonderfully flavored sauce. Both savory and refreshing because of the basil. The sauce is even great over rice so don't let your waiter take the plate away! The great thing about this place is the dessert soup they provide at the end of your meal. Coconut milk, stewed mung beans and tapioca. Yummy. Place can get a little loud on the weekends, service can be a little curt but they're definitely getting the job done. Food comes out ultra-quick. We never wait more than 15 minutes. Enjoy!

This is your typical Chinese place; crappy service with mostly oily but delish dishes and tons of Chinese peeps munching away in food nirvana with their mouths open. Anyway, the House Special Fish and Kung Pao Shrimp is da bomb and I do mean nuclear --- my gawd, tho - you must order the HSF, it's that good.

I been meaning to write about this pl forever. I'll describe how much I love the lobster noodle here. I've driven 7&half hrs just to eat here 3xs now in a 4 month period.. On top of that, I ordered it to go as well and it still tastes delish after the drive home. There is no pl that makes it even close to this in sac. I've even thought about asking if they will ship it over night if I pay for shipping. LOL

they do not marinate/season their lobster properly and they have the audacity to way overcook it there's plenty of other seafood joint in the area, they really need to up their game considering the amount of competition they have

Great food here almost all the time! The Food: House Special ANYTHING! i usually always get house special squid or shrimp. the butter saunce is pretty much going to send me the hospital, and it is doused all over the squid. the house special squid is only good fresh though, take out is not really a good option. it is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. the shrimp is pretty much the same. it really comes down to what kind of texture you like your meat to be. and it always comes with rice and tea. The Restaurant: this is where this place looses points, because it does not look like the cleanest place in the world, but i think it serves its purpose. the decorations are SO chinese. it has that good luck emblem on the back, decked out with little lion, dragon and other animal statues and etc. the decorations arent bad im jsut describing a vibe i get from this place. the service: love this place. very prompt very friendly and if you order the lobster, the people will bring out the lobster for you to choose. its just entertaining to see them walk around with live lobster in their hands, i feel bad for the lobster but it is what it is. i come back here all the time, its good food!

I have to talk about the service first before I can talk about the food. The service was horrible. When we were ready to order we asked for some to come and they kept saying we'll tell someone to come, but we sat there for like another 15 minutes and no one came to ask us what we wanted. When the guy finally came, he left to pick up a phone call in the middle of asking us what we wanted! What kind of waiter does that? When we got our food the shark fin abalone soup was good (I've eaten a lot of shark fin soup). They gave us the rice right when we walked in so it was bad. The rice was all dry and not warm. The lobster we got was alright, it wasn't the best. I think Tan Can Newport has better lobster. The greens we got were the fried peas sprout and it was hard to chew. The only good thing was probably the fried squid we got. My parents said we will probably be not be coming back here the next time we come to town.

The food can be delicious sometimes. Keyword: sometimes. On some occasions, their lobster with noodles is fantastic; on others, it is too greasy. I'd still give the food 3.5 to 4 stars overall. Now here's a 2-star rating for dishonest practices such as: 1) Not including the entire lobster that we ordered (or not the same lobster as presented); 2) Including sneaky charges on the bill. It has happened when we ordered a lot and one extra item would be difficult to notice--not to mention everything is in Chinese, which most of the customers cannot read. So just be aware and keep an eye out.

With sooooooo many choices saturated in this crazy lil OC bubble, this spot has got to be one of my fave legit Vietnamese/Chinese restaurants for lunch specials! Can never go wrong with their house shrimp special (walnut shrimp w/ mayo) and rice or the beef and Chinese broccoli. Come in before 3 pm to get the best deals!!

This place is dirty, service sucks and if you sit anywhere near the kitchen you will leave with your clothes smelling of grease and seafood. This restaurant is however pretty authentic. If you're looking for orange chicken, beef & broccoli & the other similar chinese takeout food, then this is not the place for you. The pricing is pretty good, its not cheap but its reasonable for a sit down restaurant. Our favorites: Fresh Shrimp - this is steamed w/a soy sauce dip - pricey at almost $20/lb Anything House Special!!! Shrimp, Squid, Lobster, Fish Garlic Eggplant Hot & Sour Soup with Seafood Garlic Pea Sprout Basil Clams Pineapple Fish If you are Cambodian, you can order off the menu - we like to order a more authentic Cambodian sour soup with mushroom and fish. Warning - ordering off the menu means they can make their own price up.

I was a little disappointed with the service this time around. Granted it's lunch time but the place was at less than half capacity. Food was still mouthwateringly good but checking up on you if you need anything is not their strong suit. I almost had to tackle someone to get their attention because we needed water. Oy.

Paid for a 4 pound lobster, brought it home and it was tiny!!! It was 2 pounds, tops. We actually thought they took pieces out because of how little food there was. I wouldn't have mind paying $46 for a 2 pound lobster if it tasted great but it wasn't. Not even that good. It was barely cooked and super salty. Literally had to spit a piece out because it was like chewing on a clump of salt. Never coming back here, especially never buying togo again.

We had dinner here on this past monday night as it was our last day to be in southern california for our vacation. Was recommended by a friend to try this place out for their lobster and was glad we took his advice. We ordered the lobster which was $9.99 per lb and the waiter brought it out to show us and told us the weight was 4.5 lbs which would be plenty for our party of 5. I can say that it was the best tasting lobster I've ever had in my life! We also ordered the salt and pepper frog legs which were excellent along with the garlic pea sprouts and it was so delicious! Best tasting garlic pea sprouts that I ever tasted as well. The place looks pretty old from the outside and also from the inside as well but that didn't matter to me. We were mainly there for the lobster anyways. Its located in a little plaza so there was plenty of parking. I did also see the security guard outside, but not sure why. the plaza did look safe enough to be there. We can't wait to go back there on our next trip.

Came in at around 8pm. Place was half filled so getting a table was quick. Service seemed spotty and we had to flag down the waiter to take our order. Ordered a bunch of stuff like crabs and the seafood claypot and the sizzling satay beef hot plate. All were really yummy good. Ambiance was loud so this is great for large parties. Not the cleanest of places so if you're a neat freak, good luck. Parking was good. This place would be freaking awesome for takeout. Oh, forgot to mention. I knocked off a star because right in the middle of dinner, a bunch of religious zealots came in and started handing out flyers for their church soliciting donations. I'm thinking ok, no big deal, until they broke out into song full blast right next to our table. Holy crap they totally drowned out our conversation with their hymns. Geez there's a time and place for everything, and this was not either. Major turn off.

Never been here during there dinner hours, but just from the lunch I can say it really good. Never crowded, huge, cheap lunch menu, and a good amount of food. I haven't put a dent in the menu, but judging by the beef ribs I had last time, I would ask if the food is deep fried, because its just way to greasy. the lunch special starts off with a soup that I'm personally not fond of, rice, hot tea, and water. For the dessert, this time I had gelatin in milk, and canned fruit. Odd combination at first, but I surprisingly liked it. Like I said, there is alot on the menu, so it might take some time to find something I could really like, but the price and portions is gonna keep me coming back.

Food is freaking fantastic!!! I love seafood! If you don't love seafood, try it and change your mind! My family and I had the banquet special for my sister's graduation dinner. We were so pleased and full! Here's our menu: 1. Five Star Cold Dish: so good! cold cuts of 5 types of meat 2. Crab meat w/ Caliptreaea soup: Slurp, yum! 3. Peking Duck: when you combine steam buns with roasted duck, divine! 4. House Special Baked Crabs: finger licking good!! 5. Shrimp w/ Candied Walnuts: sweet shrimptastic! 6. Seafood in Noodle Basket: the noodle basket was the best, yummy! (check out the photo) 7. Sauteed Peas Sprout: mmm.. garlic 8. Seafood in Brown Sauce: yum-my! 9. Steamed Fish Teo Chew Style: tasty oh my! 10. House Special Fried Rice: perfect compliment to a smorgasbord! As some people know, banquet food tends to be pricey but this place charged a fair rate. Only one eye twitched when I paid the bill. Service is a bit slow but whatever! Go for the food!

WOW, can't go wrong eating at Royal Capital Seafood all these years! For a small group, I recommend the $49 Family combo with 4 dishes, and add any extra entrees as needed. Also, need to request: Vietnamese soup (not Thai), and replace salted shrimp with House Special Shrimp ($2 extra, but worth it!)! Can also have them serve House Special shrimp over chow mein noodles (tastes great)! And every meal comes with Free yellow mung bean dessert pudding!

Seafood fanatics, heaven is on earth! Royal Capital Seafood is probably the best place to clog my arteries and die as a happy foodie. Their house special anything is really REALLY good. Like, i shit you not, this place is fucking tasty. If it's your first time, I would recommend the house special noodles + lobster. Think lobster is too expensive? Well you could get the house special noodles + shrimp (but when you order the shrimp you have to emphasize house special or else they'll give you this random shrimp crapola). Also, if you cant decide, you might want to try the pre-written orders in the back of the menu. But overall, you can't really go wrong with this chinese seafood place (:! Unlike most, it's not very cramped. It's actually quite well sized. Additionally, I don't think i've ever had to wait for a table for more than 5 minutes. Also, chinese seafood restaurants are notorious for crappy service but this place has pretty good service. Sure they don't constantly ask you if you need anything but if you just raise your hand and ask, they always bring you whatever it is right away. The only reason this place doesn't have a star is because i'm sort of a hygiene freak. and well i don't think any chinese seafood restaurant that is legit and cheap is going to be 5 stars by default..soo...yeah :D Whether it be crab, lobster or any other critter that swims in the big ocean, you better practice eating because YOU WILL SMELL if that shit gets on you! their food is fucking delicious but if it gets on your clothes then you are going to have to go overload on detergent. Wear a bib? Bring cologne? Whatever you do, don't forget to unbutton your jeans at the end! (:

It's not that Royal Cap was bad... I've just had better... I'll start with the house special lobster. I think they overdo it... lobster has a tenderly delicate and complex flavor...and chopping it up and loading it with spices just masks what I consider one of the great delicacies of the sea. I qualify myself as a purist New Englander who would have difficulty accepting lobster any other way than traditional NE style... but as a compromise I just wish Royal Capital would just ease up just a tiny bit on the grease and spice... just a bit. I was also not much of a fan of most of the other "house special" dishes I ate. Maybe the whole style is just lost on me... but the whole buttery flavor just doesn't seem to work for me in Asian cuisine. I did very much enjoy the fried tofu and fried squid (these do not include the house special sauce thank God). The pea sprouts were also great. Besides the food, the restaurant itself seems kind of sticky and dingy. I'm by no means a food snob about atmosphere...but I felt dirty here. I hear there are other locations...maybe it's just this one?

What to say about this place. Like the stars say, I've experienced better. Not sure what it is about this place but I'm not to crazy about it. The food is average to say, which the exception of the fried shrimp. The service is kinda crappy when I went and the place looks kinda dirty. I wouldn't come back here unless it was for some good reason.

Good here for lunch special. The foods are about 6-7 dollars a plate. We always get the same thing. House special fried tofu, salt and pepper shrimp, whole fried fish with the sauce on the side, fish filet (same as whole fried fish but pieces), clams, and some other ones I forgot. Service at times are great, not very crowded when we go, and parking lots can be full at times. I suggest going after 12pm.

This is our favorite restaurant for Chinese food, especially Chinese seafood. The food is excellent. The prices are ten years behind the times. Service is adequate yet friendly. The restaurant itself could use a remodel. There are tanks of live fish and lobster and coming in the door it smells like it. Come here for the quality of the food and the price. Don't come for the service or ambiance. The food we have left over to take home is larger then the servings at many restaurants.

Everytime I go here with my family we get the house special lobster over noodles. It's incredibly delicious and you feel like you've ingested way too much oil like any good Chinese restaurant. They do all the other traditional Chinese dishes well and their lunch special is super cheap with dishes starting at $5. Ambience-wise it's not the prettiest restaurant and it's cramped, but I'll eat anywhere with good food. This place can get really busy during peak hours, Friday and Saturday night.

Typical Chinese seafood place in GG. Good for seafood and they're specials on lobsters right now makes it worth it. Their lunch specials are only $6/plate too so it made our meal very affordable considering the amount of food we got. Lobsters with noodles was the highlight... man that's good. Mouth watering again just thinking about it. I really like the beef dish we got as well as the green beans with dried shrimp. We also got the clams with basil. All was very good. The only thing that was a minor annoyance was that the second and I mean, the second we were done, they were at our table cleaning up. I mean... there were a few pieces of food left that I finished while the girl was clearing all the other plates. That was the only thing that was a bit annoying... Overall, good place and would come back.

Great selection of Authentic Chinese and Cambodian food. Plenty of staff on hand who are wiling and very knowledgeable about every item on the menu. Even the staff enjoy eating there. That's a big thing for me; if the people who work there who know what goes in and out of everything eat there, it's great enough for me to enjoy with confidence. Just don't elaborate on customizing your orders.

on a thursday night i was desperately craving some peking duck...so after some yelping we settled on royal capital seafood! uhh and we both agreed it was okkaaaay... we ordered peking duck...duck was slightly rubbery and little buns were weird shaped and kind of small we also got that french style beef and chinese broccoli...and that was good...not great just ok. i think the dessert thing was the best part of our meal. lol i've been there before once, but i have a memory of a goldfish when it comes to remembering names. so i can say i will probably come back if i have chinese cravings and don't wanna drive too far. but would i say its delicious? meh its just ok.

one of my favorite restaurants of all time! i've never had a dish i didn't like (except the complimentary hot and sour soup which i think is bland and disgusting. i never touch it when they bring it out for me, but hey it's free so no complaints there). things i usually order everytime i'm here: 1. deep fried intestines ( i HAVE TO ORDER THIS EVERYTIME, it's the best!) 2. clams with basil 3. house special fish 4. house special lobster 5. house special mussel 6. fried whole fish 7. crab and asparagus soup 8. crab and fish maw soup 9. fried rice with salted fish (with shrimp or chicken) all of the above make my palate and stomach very happy. below are things i want to try but never get around to bc i always order too much food (see above) -pha lau ( more organ meats and innards) -sea cucumber hot pot -steamed live shrimp -house special shrimp ..... actually.... i eventually want to try everything on the menu... Food- 5 stars Cleanliness and decor - negative 100 stars. yes, the place is utterly filthy and would really benefit from a complete make-over Service- mediocre aka normal for an asian establishment. as long as the food is good and they bring it out fast - minus hair, bugs, and anything else that does not belong, that's all you need.

I've been here a million times over the years. Had some damn awful, greasy meals delivered to my table too. So why four stars? Because when they are on--you can get one of the best meals around! House Special Lobster. Perfect. For all of my fellow Whiteys out there who only eat our boring lobster that our grandparents dip in a little dish of butter for excitement--watch out! This much flavor--you'll never know what hit ya' ! Garlic, onions...oh man. Dangerous! House special shrimp (or chicken--this "house" thing gets repetative) is so good--unless you get a cook dying to smoke his 555 cigarette out back and he rushes the order--leaving it oily and nasty. NOTE: Don't get seated next to the bathrooms--they are pretty rotten and nobody wants to sit next to a bathroom while you eat. The Asians in here haven't figured that out yet after all these decades.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
